It's a superb album....one of the best Prince-produced albums.Prince was the ideal producer for Chaka. My favorite tracks are the first song (title track) and the last track ("The Drama").

Having Prince and Chaka doing a whole album together was a dream come true for me, and I fell in love with it immediately. It's underrated because the so-called plastic years were met with lots of fans hostility (and Prince's behavior with fansites as well as the CB fiasco didn't help), but I wouldn't be surprised if this era of his career wasn't reevaluated at some point in the future: it was absolutely brilliant, just not in phase with what audiences expected from Prince at that time.

For me, I dont think he was quite in the plastic years with the New Power Pak set of CDs. But some of the production on NewPowerSoul foreshadowed that.

I do love Come 2 My House. I remember prince saying Chaka was a hard boss to work for. The efforts certainly paid off. There was no way Chaka, at her age and with her experience, was going to let anyone else boss her around in the studio to any extent - not even prince. However, they probably did work quite well together, both being musical, and talented.

I don't think GCS2000 was a proper Graham Central Station album, though. That, if any of the three, was more of a Prince album with Graham vocals over it - like a protege album.

I think I might still have the New Power Sampler cassette around here somewhere.

I never heard the LG album (never interested me) but this was always one of my favorites of that era. Man I don't have any idea what I did with this CD. I wish it were on tidal so I could revisit it.

Change it one more time..
