On Hollywood exes (in between bouts of shrieking between the women), Mayte was clearly stating that she did not receive alimony from Prince and was struggling financially to support her adopted daughter. Possibly this is why she was doing this show. It seemed to me like she has never really recovered from the loss of her birth children (unsurprisingly) or Prince, she still had clothes of his and stacks of wedding china. I think eventually she sold these, according to the show in an attempt to move on, or possibly she genuinly needed money. She seems to be a passionate and very caring lady, and at that time seemed quite desperate to meet a life partner and try for more children. I think she is getting work in films now, so maybe she is moving on.

I don't think Mayte would ever have wished Prince any ill and even though she might need the money, I don't see her suddenly trying to grab her share now, although of course I could be wrong. She seems to have been open in her sadness about his death etc. Their marriage was a tragedy for both, it is so very sad.

I don't know about Mani - during the time he was married to her I wasn't following him that closely for a few years, but I get the feeling she was a bit of an opportunist?

I watched that show a few times, and although Mayte may have not wished Prince any ill, I can't say the same for her mother, because she didn't like him, and spat on the floor when she said his name, saying what an awful person he was. eek

I saw that. Mayte said that she has forgiven Prince, but her mother has not.

How attached can you get to a baby in one week? It's not like he lost a 2 year old. I'm not saying he didn't care and of course it was painful, but human physiology dictates that kind of bonding takes a lot more time.

She carried that baby for nine months. He was expecting to be a father for nine months. You get VERY attached.

Prince wrote songs about being a father. He made that video (I can't remember the name right now) where Mayte was at the hospital when she found out she was pregnant. The baby's heartbeat was on one of Prince's songs. So yes, he was very attached and looking forward to being a father, and Mayte has never gotten over losing their kids and Prince may not have either.

That's strange. Asolutely nobody wanted to buy that stuff? Nobody?

Starting bids were in the 10's of thousands for many of the items.

I am inclined to believe that each woman probably got a lump sum settlement and that was it. I know for sure Mayte didn't get alimony because first of all, they didn't get divorced -- the marriage was ANNULLED.

So if the marriage didn't exist, no cause for alimony. She has lived pretty modestly in LA since her marriage ended and even during her time with Tommy Lee. I used to see them together at the dog park in Laurel Canyon and my yorkie would play with her yorkies. She had a lot of doggies!

They did get divorced. The annulment was a tale he told, IIRC because he was dating while she was holed up in Marbella mourning the loss of their children.

I thought it had been confirmed that Mayte was getting 250k/year for 20 years. Anyone recall?

That is the amount I recall also but I don't know if it was ever confirmed.

Prince has been dead since October 1996 in theory but only physically as of recently. I never lost a child but i am grieving a parent and I know that when you lose someone that important, you die a little bit too.

I am very sorry for your loss, but what irresistablebitch666 said, is very disrespectful.

Ha. Is this the same mother who worked so hard to pimp her daughter out to Prince?

250K per year (not per month) is the figure that was floating around at the time of the divorce. So 5 mil total. And If she got it as a lump some then true enough, there is no "monthly" allotment or "continual maintenance".

I don't see any problem with someone bringing it up since it's the subject of this thread. Nobody claimed it as fact, just what was reported at the time.

It might be "crap" but Mayte seems to have lived pretty well these past 20 years with doing very little work (unless she has herself a desk job no one knows about). So, I'm guessing that she got something. I doubt Prince would cut her loose with nothing.

I never saw that video...I cried like a baby! He was so happy and it's unfortunate he never got to experience fatherhood😢

you know they filmed that video AFTER the baby died,right? but i agree, losing children at any point is tragic.

I realise it wasn't the initial moment they found out, but after the baby died? Why would they want to do that?

In my opinion, Mayte should have been paid alimony...unless she signed a prenup negating that possibility. It seems that she did not have good legal counsel.

TrivialPursuit said: Because if a will is eventually found, one of the wives could inherit the money. It doesnt matter if Prince was legally divorced from Mayte and Manuela. If it states in the will that one of the ladies is getting the money, they get it regardless of the date it was drawn up. I am just telling you what i read on some site last week. I think that there is a will and that it is either in the vault or might have been burned up by one of Prince's siblings. Greed makes you do stupid things.

If Londel was right, there isn't one (to his knowledge). He tried to get Prince to write one up for years, and he said Prince hated thinking about that stuff, and avoided it every time. When someone like Prince (ie a big figure with a lot of money) has a will, it's usually known by a few folks, and is quickly surfaced. Knowing how Prince didn't always do what he should have in business, him not having a will seems almost 'normal' - for him.

If Prince really refused to draw up an estate plan--an assertion of which I am not convinced--Londell (and the whole army of lawyers P. retained over the years) should have been more forceful. Really, I think someone is guilty of malpractice. He/They should have told Prince the horror story of what would happen if he died with no estate plan:

  1. having the government grab over 50% of his estate, off the top;
  2. having Paisley Park potentially sold;
  3. inviting a huge money grab, resulting in a public spectacle;
  4. having the contents of the vault sold to Warner Brothers for a song, just to pay off taxes and debt;
  5. having the masters, for which he fought for many, many years, be sold to Warner Brothers for pennies on the dollar.

Did no one tell him that story about his entire life's work evaporating? Seriously? And he still refused to draw up an estate plan? Right. It just doesn't make sense, does it? Personally, I believe that Prince's estate is being suppressed.

He wrote that whole emancipation album basically for Mayte but the Call my name song was for Manuella. In the song it even mentions Bridal Path which is the place Prince and Mani shared in Canada

Call My name was for Manuella and she loves me for me. Mayte had that whole Emacipation album dedicated to her.
