SOME JUDITH HILL LOVE!

Seems like this forum is all about killing Prince for all he does wrong but no love for what he gets right. Getting behind Judith Hill is all kinds of right and she had a show out performance on Steven Colbert! Along with a great write up n the NY Times as well as Apple Music doing promo tweets for her debut album which is on NPG Records. Let's support this wonderful artist who is the first artist in a long time to get this kind of push from our guy Prince.

Here's some links to check out if you haven't had the chance yet;

I agree. There is so much negative energy on this site that they miss a lot of cool musical moments...just like the masses.

Agree. Major props to P for shining his light on this album. This gets a lot more spins than HITnRUN from me. Can't wait to have the physical copy in my hands. Also hope she'll do live promotion in the UK. Would be great if she'd come over with the NPG Hornz & Liv & do a kind of Old Skool Soul Revue type show. Bring P on bass & leave 3EG at Paisley!!!

I LOOOOOVE this record. Not every track. When I was friest going through it...Cry, Cry, Cry want my 'go to' track. It's release as a sing and hinda won me over and I been a little obsessed with it tonight. I tried Notting down the lyrics.

I need some help. The brackets parts especially.

Cry, Cry, Cry

I know u been hurting
for a long time
Seems like another day
that never ends
Oh!...those long nights
[A/that lovers still find/so fine???]
A lover, yes. But more than that
a true friend.

Maybe they did things to hurt you
But baby they don't deserve you
When all is said and done
A change is gonna come

I need you to Cry, Cry, Cry
A little bit longer
I need you to Try, Try, Try
To get by whatever comes your way
I need you to Cry, Cry, Cry
A little bit longer
[feels like the long day of the soul???]
but tomorrow's a new day

I hope and pray we'll remember
One day, its gonna be alright
[but who oh...your heartache]
ain't gonna' last for forever
After the midnight cry
comes the morning light

Baby Uve been through the fire
But baby's you's a fighter
When all is said and done
A change is gonna come

I need you to Cry, Cry, Cry
A little bit longer
I need you to Try, Try, Try
To get by whatever comes your way
Cry, Cry, Cry
A little bit longer
[naw feels like the long day of the soul??]
but tomorrow's a new day

Maybe they did things to spite you
But only two wrongs
make a right to fools
when all is said and done
a change is gonna come
change is gonna

If only you Cry, Cry, Cry
A little bit longer now
I need you to Try, Try, Try
To get by
I know you suffering
[nothings long???]
but I bet u now
it'll make u strong
if you cry, cry, cry
mmmmhmmmm yeah
Cry, yeah...
Cry...
Cry...
Cry...
Cry...

As Trains Go By is my Favorite song....filthy funky nasty. But embarrassingly, I can make out what half her and are sayin!

Like Cee Lo Green
in a sea of red lights
might as well be famous
since I ain't gonna' be white
one way or another
I know I'll be alright
as trains gk by
bad times outta sight

telling u that u
not what you can see
everything else is
what u want to be
calling u names while
tryna make you cheat

Like Cee Lo Green
in a sea of red lights
might as well be famous
since I ain't gonna' be white
one way or another
I know I'll be alright
as trains go by
bad times outta sight

how can a chokehold never on TV
still be OK with the NYCPD
since 19-hundred 65
[since we were free???]
talkin' 'bout you, talkin' bout me

Like Cee Lo Green
in a sea of red lights
might as well be famous
since I ain't gonna' be white
one way or another
I know I'll be alright
as trains go by
bad times outta sight

[how many bodies need to be deprived]
before the masses raise their
voice and make a sound
[walls of Jericho???
whatever takes em down]
think about a dance
when you hear the sound

[while 19 seats???]
brother Malcolm is awake
[this time they won't....
...our piece of cake???]
[sound of freedom...
...repoerations shake???]
everybody shake
no time to wake

Like Cee Lo Green
in a sea of red lights
might as well be famous
since I ain't gonna' be white
one way or another
I know I'll be alright
as trains gk by
bad times outta sight
outta sight...
outta sight...
outta sight...

iTunes and TIDAL is selling the lossless FLAC version of the album on their site like they did for HitNRun.

This is Chaka Kahn meets Adele in a time machine while checking out a Sly Stone concert.

This is also Prince's musical genius finding someone who has already written several terrific songs by herself who appears to share a similar musical background at the foot of her youthful keyboard.

Having lived with this record for a few months now I can say with much more confidence that — besides 10 or 15 Prince solo records which rank him as one of the greatest musical artists to ever hit record — this is my current favorite and maybe my all-time favorite that Prince produced for another (yes, including Sheila E.'s first, Jill Jones' only, and perhaps even The Time's first two).

Don't leave Judith at the altar due to that rather colorless, humdrum found on the opening of Prince's latest.

This is the "Million $ Show".

I agree. The albums Prince has produced for Tamar Davis (Milk And Honey), Andy Allo (Superconductor), Liv Warfield (The Unexpected) and now Judith Hill (Back In Time) are better produced than most of Prince's albums since 2006. I don't understand why Prince doesn't put the same attention to detail and at least to my ears, passion, into his own albums. But back to Judith. Judith Hill has the talent, chops and songwriting to reap the commercial success and critical acclaim she surely deserves. Prince so far has helped release her debut album and maybe it won't top the charts or even win awards, but Judith Hill has established herself as a serious musician that can have legs to stand on with or without Prince's involvement after she parts ways with Prince at some point.

I just dont see anything extraordinary about Hill. THe fact that MJ and Prince wanted her is still the biggest mystery in music to me.
