You're thinking of the recent Tavis Smiley interview where D'Angelo did indeed refer to some modern music as "electronic noise". He doesn't however, make any reference to HitnRun or indeed any individual artist or album. There's a fairly good reason for that, since the interview was recorded before HitnRun was released.
