Going back to Paisley Park Studios tonight for the first time in many years. Lot's of incredible memories of making great records with some of my favorite people, including my brother Ricky Peterson (produced Most Beautiful Girl in the World), the late ‪#‎TomTucker‬ behind the board, ‪#‎DavidRivkin‬, ‪#‎JoeFinger‬ and ‪#‎Rick‬ Barron (Living Daylights), Shaun LaBelle, Nona Gaye, Mavis Staples, Jason Scheff (‪#‎Chicago‬) ‪#‎JasonPetersonDeLaire‬, and the rest of the The Peterson Family, Tommy LiPuma and the great George Benson. My brother was a staff producer there, and he let me share his office.

I had several encounters with ‪#‎Prince‬, but in those days our relationship was strange to say the least. He did allow me to be there, and play on some of his projects. He also took great care of my brother, who did such great work for him. When Ricky and I went to NYC to work on David Sanborn (Official)'s record, we were asked to clear out the office. It was the end of an era.

I remember being mad at myself for never insisting on talking with Prince to clear the air, and genuinely say thank you or sorry, or whatever. I ended up sending a note over, just so I would have closure. I thought that would be it.......Several days later, I received a call to go and meet with him. I did, and I remember being nervous, cause I didn't know what he wanted. He made me wait, and I was uncomfortable, which I am sure was the intent. (I could be wrong) He came and asked me what I was doing, and if I wanted to join his band. I about flipped out......Unfortunately there were a few stipulations that didn't end up working for me. We laughed, I said my peace, and I left in peace. It wasn't until many years later (the past few years) that we have reconnected....Each meeting has been extremely cordial, quirky and cool.I welcome the opportunity to play at his record release party....Life is short, I say welcome the unexpected. Congratulations #Prince.

Great honest & heartfelt post from Paul on Facebook. I met both him & Eric Leeds when Fdeluxe played in London. Really cool guys. I'm glad P has reached out to them & they have reconnected. That is always special when such a shared history is involved. Would be good if P reached out to others also but that is his business. I hope the gig is fantastic tonight. Wish I was there...

Thats cool. I'm happy to hear they've made peace. Good too that it's posted in the wrong forum because I rarely get over to the Associated Artist Forum.

I don't think anybody does, but they will still move it, so this thread will die very soon...

Any news on the gig?

The Family had a great and unique musical/conceptual formula. I bet St. Paul regrets not making it work.

yeah- that would be Prince not making it work. They rehearsed to tour, and they just rehearsed. No tour.

I'm sure they dont regret not waiting around while Prince ignored them on tour.

I really like Paul. Met him a few times and he's the real deal. Never got the success his talent deserved. When you see people like Justin beiber and nicki minaj making a fortune and they have precisely no clue about actual music it's very sad.

How cooll would it have been, had Paul been able, to take Prince's offer to join the NPG. I mean, who sings lead on Nothign Compares 2 U in that situation? Prince was smart to make an offer to him, becaue the fans would have loved to see them together.

They have scheduled another show at the Dakota on November 24th. It's a reschedule of the August date that was postponed. Paul said Friday night that Susannah would be there. I hope it happens this time.

I don't think it would have worked. It's a masterpiece of an album but it's totally too weird to have been the 'Duran Duran" hit Prince hoped it to be. I assume it wouldn't have sold much more than it did even with a tour and 2 more music videos. Maybe there would have been a second album, maybe not, but it would have been another great but obscure Paisley Park project no matter what.
