She seemed to be present enough to promote her album Wild Animal on Motown and movie The Last Dragon from Tristar.

can we all agree....that "Pretty Mess" song is pretty terrible the lyrics are atrocious

So... this song is basically about her getting covered in ejaculate. She even says it, albeit rather coyly. "seam and" sounds like semen. and the line " pulling on my hair" line sounds a lot like "put it on my hair".

I'm so thankful that her second album Skin On Skin was a big improvement from the first album. Skin On Skin is a favorite.

Love that fact that she gave a bit of a shout out to Brenda and Susan

Yes the Skin On Skin album was a huge improvement on her Wild Animal album. Every song on it could be a single. It is in my top 10 favourite albums. Romantic Voyage is a gorgeous song.

I was jamming to "Mechanical Emotion" this past month though.

I remember my friends and I were shocked when we first heard this song.The subject matter is outrageous

After Wild Animal flopped,Motown heavily supervised the next album,Skin On Skin.They chose professional songwriters and songs,and didn't let Vanity have the full control she had with Wild Animal.The result is a much stronger,more consistent album.The first single "Under The Influence" is sexy and sultry,but not sleazy like "Pretty Mess".Vocally,she also sounds much better on this album.

The sexual innuendos were strong in this interview

Unbelievable how much she changed her ways since then...quite interesting really that both her and Prince have pretty much closed the book on their wild days in the 80s...

But wow, I mean the song was whack as hell, but damn...Vanity really was Sex personified...incredible aura on this woman!

Do you like Vanity's "Undress" track from the Action Jackson movie soundtrack? I feel that Vanity had real porgression in her career. Shame she quit singing that funky stuff

"Undress" is a very good track,and so is "Faraway Eyes".Just when Vanity was finally starting to improve as a vocalist,she gave up on her singing career.

I wish Motown would re-issue Wild Animal, The Last Dragon soundtrack and Skin on Skin on Compact Disc.
