Rhastus

The two best songs on Pandemonium are Blondie and Skillet.

and this may come as a shock,but...

I think the Ice Cream Castles album is sorta weak.It lacks focus and sounds messy throughout. The title track doesn't even feel like a Time song...it's too light and pop-ish."Chili Sauce" is obvious filler...."If The Kid Can't Make You Come" is silly and goes on too long.....if it wasn't for "Jungle Love" and "My Drawers" (two good songs),I wouldn't even pull this record out and play it.

I think the departure of Jam and Lewis and the filming of the movie, distracted Prince somewhat.Seems like he wasn't able to devote enough time to this project.

Totally agree with you here!

That's why it is not a Time album, it sounds nothing like The Time. And what I absolutly hate about Pandemonium are all the non-Prince tracks, they simply DO NOT BELONG. I just barely consider Pandemonium a The Time Album. The only stand out tracks are Jerk Out and Chocolate, the rest are just run of the mill stuff anybody could whip up for any album. But those two actually SOUND like true The Time tracks. True Time tracks are written and produced by Prince, anything else is just something else, good or bad or whatever, just not The Time.

Again I agree completely, these are the only two tracks that really kick ass.

I never got into that The Time version, but I was hooked on the Prince one.

I have read interviews where Morris and Jesse have said that they didn't even enjoy recording that album. They were basically just going through the motions while (privately) preparing their solo careers.Once Jesse and Terry were gone, things didn't feel the same. The album is actually kinda depressing to me.It lacks the uptempo fun and wild energy of the previous record,What Time Is It?'.

You mean it lacks Prince doing almost everything? What could Jesse enjoy about recording the first two?

I agree. I can't find one track on that cd that I like. All that talent together, but yet so disappointing.
I agree what another poster said, the cd sound like some old cats trying to sound cool. Now I do think they're still cool, but not on this cd.

I think the best songs on Pandemonium are "Jerkout",the title track and "It's Your World".

Those should have been the three singles,in that order.

It's at the 93:50 mark when Jesse trashes the album and says the album wasn't good enough to have the name The Time. the player is right below where it says "the best in r & B and vintage classic soul music"

I TOTALLY and COMPLETELY agree with Jesse on this one. The Original 7 album didn't deserve to be called a Time album. As much as i love and respect the Time i couldn't even purchase this album and it hurt me that i couldn't. I just felt like there was too much talent in that band to produce that weak of a project, that actually kinda sounded like older cats pandering to the young people. I was expecting all the way live band cuts as opposed to synths and drum machines and if you're gonna go that route, at least give it a live "feel" like Jesse did on his criminally underrated Verbal Penetration. Pandemonium was a better album. Like i said all that talent should've yielded greater results.

With the exception of the song Trendin, everything sounded like it was 1992.

It was an okay album.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

it's a no-win situation for older artists and bands. If they dare to 'update' their sound and sound modern, people say they're trying to appeal to the youngsters. If they keep their 'old' sound, people accuse of them of living in the past and sounding like old men.

This is certainly true, there is a really fine line between these two options and only few older artists can find the right balance and get away with it.

I personally think the O7 did quite a good job with the "Condensate" album.

I agree, they did a good job.For the most part, they stayed true to their classic funk sound. There are no guest rappers and no silly attempts at doing the electro/techno sounds that you hear on the radio these days lol
