Sheila E "Icon" new album November!

Sheila E will release her new album entitled "Icon" on 4 (France)/8 (Europe) November. Not sure when the US release date will be. The album will be distributed by the German label Moosicus and will feature MC Lyte and Eddie M among others. Some song titles include:

Mona Lisa, Leader Of The Band, Nasty Thang featuring Mc Lyte, Old Skool feat. Eddie M and Girl Like Me featuring Ledisi.

Looks like some or all of the songs from the From E 2 U EP are going to be included. "Mona Lisa" is set to be the new single, I just hope they have removed the autotuned vocals from the earlier EP version sad

The cover (below) is great, by the way! Sheila will support the release of the album with a European tour in November.

That's Sheila E?

When did she put on the hips and thigh?

It would have been cool for her to have a mix of 1980s camp members

Glad 2 see Eddie M is on there

Does anyone else have a feeling that this is going to be a throwback of sorts to her Minneapolis sound but without Prince?

I do... should be interesting.

I'm not sure how I feel about that cover. Her face is too beautiful to be obscured, and the semi-sillouette choice is "strange"...

If the EP is any indication of how it's gonna sound, it's more Sheila's universe than Prince's.

Good news, anyway smile

I didn't know about Chaka's new album. Good news, too smile

I'd prefer that over the Latin-Jazz, (I enjoy latin Jazz) but this is Sheila E

a good mix of those 1st 3 albums but in 2013 would be sexy, it's time for her to put something hot out there

But that image can't be Sheila E

SHEILA?!?!? I prefer something like this

Wow, great suggestions (I agree!) and those pics are HOTTTT!!!!!!!

I am surprised she's not on the cover with a percussion instrument - or at least holding a drum stick (no, I don't mean a chicken leg)... but I am just happy there is new Sheila E. songs coming out! I hope she tours the U.S. and potential dates with fDeluxe would be fantastic too!

I especially LOVE how she kicked ass a few years ago on that show about being a country singer. She won and it! It was produced by John Rich and she really showed she is very versitile, can write her own songs in any genre, and has the chops to DO ANYTHING! I am glad she's about to return... and she deserves some non-Prince recognition. I'll always remember her years with him fondly and will never forget the live shows I've seen with both of them, but he just doesn't treat his friends very well. Let her be the icon that we know she is! Go Sheila!!!!

I'm pretty surprised by the photography chosen.

I dont want to say anything negative, but let's just say there are so many other examples of photos of her that are so much better I don't know why they chose these shots, angles, lightings etc.

Sheila is naturally beautiful, has an unbelievable smile, amazing style/clothes, hair etc. In person this is obvious, and in most photos, albums covers, etc. this always comes through These shots don't seem to capture her essence for some reason. Don't quite get it.

LOL. The hair looks like some simply clicked on the magic wand masking and accepted the first thing it found.

Amazon.de now has soundclips, as does iTunes. Relieved to see the horrible autotune on "Mona Lisa" is no more...

I think music lovers (and E fans) will be surprised and very happy with Sheila's new musical direction.

ICON represents a huge artistic leap as a musician, singer and songwriter. Sheila will be performing all music genres - funk, pop, latin, rock and r&b. I'm pretty psyched that a new generation will be exposed to one of music's BEST! Sheila's recognition as solo artist is long overdue, and I think ICON will finally put her in her OWN spotlight.

Yes, I also like what I've heard so far! Although I must say that I absolutely loved the E-Family album also, so I'm glad she is still able to produce great albums smile

Agreed! "Now and Forever" is a great cd. There are so many standouts on ICON. Each song on the new cd is very autobiographical in nature, which will compliment her new book. I'm pretty psyched!
