NEW Interview with Cat Glover on "Dyes Got the Answers 2 Ur ?s" Hello all,
I had the pleasure of conducting an interview with Miss Cat Glover this past Mother's Day that I just posted on my blog. She talks about everything from why she left Prince's band, Star Search, turning down David Bowie, the club scene in the 1980s to meeting Teena Marie. You can check it out by clicking below:

Enjoy!

Nicely done! Thank you for doing these. It's so nice to hear Cat's stories and memories and all she had to say about SOTT and Lovesexy. This was a lot of fun, and I'm happy for Cat.

Great interview, as always. You get them to tell new story and that's very rare when it come to Prince associates, thanks!
The part about Prince and Bowie is quite fascinating, I didn't even know these 2 had ever been in the same room, let alone talking to each other!
Also, I'm looking forward for this Alphabet St. Remix with Chuck D., u kinda got a scoop here, I don't think this had been revealed before!!! A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Great interview, few big names mentioned, would love to have heard the Graffiti Bridge discussions between Prince and Madonna, not to mnetion the one between Prince and Bowie, over Cat!
Rather curious to know about the new tv show that she is involved in
Was the Troy Beyer mentioned the same one from the Sexy MF video, and seriously do all of Prince's girlfriends live the same apartmnet buildings??

Good interview. Prince must have been good to Cat. I think she would like to get back into his good graces because when it was announced Prince would be doing Welcome 2 Chicago shows, Cat supposedly posted this message: CATHERINE GLOVER • 3 hours ago WELL GOOD PRINCE THAT'S MY HOME TOWN AS YOU KNOW DON'T LET ME DOWN BECAUSE I NEVER HAVE LET YOU DOWN ! DO A GREAT JOB AND I WILL ALSO BE PROUND OF YOU! WE R ALL ANIMAL'S LIVING IN A HUMAN ZOO......PLEASE DON'T BE LIKE ALL THESE FAKE MUSICAN WHO JUST WANT PRESS ! OK? I LOVE YOU PRINCE AND ALWAYS WILL .YOUE X DANCER AND MUSE CAT GLOVER 1=LOVE.PEACE.ALWAYS.DOLL! *
I hope she wasn’t let down. It looks like Prince really is like all the fake musicians who just want press. It would have been great if he would have contacted Cat and let her dance on stage at one of the recent Chicago shows. This is another great interview coming from Dye. I think it’s nice Cat still has respect for Prince and didn’t talk about the threesomes he had with bisexual women back in his wild days. Then again, he could have started after she left and Robin Power, another Chi-town girl and Nona Gaye came into his organization. There should be a book about all his supposed girlfriends. Great interview! Thanks for doing and posting these. It seems to me that Cat must've had a crush on Prince. Also, that comments / rejections must've happened to her in the entertainment industry because of her looks (specifically, her face is not the industry standard); but it's cool that Prince not only wanted her as a dancer, but for covers and other prominent photo shoots. And that he didn't understand at all her insecurity about being too black. He celebrated her looks/attractiveness during that era. As for her not being invited back onstage with Prince, didn't they have a falling out because Cat said to him that Mayte can never be as good as her as his #1 dancer? I think reconnecting with Cat might bring back memories associated with that whole Mayte era. Why would he want to be around someone who might be thinking, "I told you Mayte wasn't good for you."

I can understand how she could be 'intimidated' by the previous/current beautities in Prince's camp
But I don't see how she sees herself as "more black" she has a very mixed look to her as well: Personally I don't think Prince would have picked her if she didn't have that look. I think she fit right in 'exotic' looks with Susan Moonsie Vanity Sheila Jill Susannah
* I think the falling out was a few good years later. She ran into Prince and Mayte and she made a coy comment about how 'she' would never have what they had etc and Prince brushed it off and kept walking.
* I would think her dropping the band at that point would have been the 'falling out'
* Do we really know what happened with Boni & Prince? Sheila didn't like the direction Prince was taking her (Who was she going to be in the movie?) or was that a totally different script? Was Sheila going to be (Jill Jones character) and Cat (Robin Powers character)? Somewhere around that time Sheila had a lung collapse/backsurgery...

Yes. Back in March I even contacted K. Dyes and asked her if she was a Prince promoter or affiliate with Paisley Park in any way. She said she was just a regular old fan. I was thinking about sharing everything with her.

Best of these Dye interviews so far. Not that the others have been bad, this one was just all kinds of awesome. Prince and Bowie chillin' at Paisley Park. And who did Cat refuse to fire that Prince turned out ot be right on? Boni? But they were friends! I request a follow up interview, pronto!!! She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Cool interview. Loved Cat's role in the LoveSexy tour, and Sign of the Times movie. I always felt that Cat was the best dancer out of all his dancers. Nice to know she's doing fine, and look forward to seeing that reality show she speaks of.

Prince wanted Cat to "fire" Karen Krattinger. Cat took the high road and walked.

I didn't think Karen Krattinger, worked for Prince directly but for WB. I wouldn't think Cat had authority to fire anyone.
. I left Prince's band in 1989 and it was my choice to leave. He did not fire me. I chose to leave, because, I'm mother's child-- I have morals, values and I could make my own decisions.
My biggest regret is that I left Prince. He told me about a certain person and I chose to make my own decision. In the long run he was right. That's it. He asked me to do something and what he told me about the person was correct. I didn't listen.

No. Karen "K2" Krattinger was Prince's personal assistant from 1985-1988.

Yey! Cat!! LOVE her,the best dancer he ever had, great personality, beautifull, original. I missed her when she left the band, she was a big inspiration to me as a young girl who loved to dance but had no formal training. Good luck to her with all the projects she mentioned. "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

Sounds like cool people. Could do with less talk about building empires which is pretty crazy. Probably could learn a bit from fDeluxe and Jill Jones who tend to be more humble & talk it down.

Good interview but...an Alphabet St. remix? With Chuck D´s involvement? And without Prince´s permission? And that song doesn´t belong to WB? How so ? That part sounded a bit delusional and in contrast to the rest of this quite down to earth interview.
And is her manager Shawn Carter THAT Shawn Carter? I doubt that Jay-Z has time to take care of Cat, with his busy schedule these days. But the way she describes her manager, with all those connections, it does sound like she´s talking about Jay, which sounds a bit far fetched. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Shawn Carter is a gentleman who is part of the Public Enemy family. She's definitely not talking about Jay-Z. Who, in print, is usually referred to as...Jay-Z. Also, Prince wrote Alphabet St. when he had Paisley Park, his own label. So, I do believe Prince is the one she would talk to about remixing--and not covering--the song.
She didn't say anything about not involving Prince. She was talking more about not wanting to do it without his blessing. [Edited 6/1/13 8:50am] Dyes Got the Answers 2 Ur ?s

yeah, I would have hoped whoever she had communications with she would just do something with them. Especially right now, it would be cool to see her with Sheila E

It seems odd that Prince would ask Cat to fire someone when he could have just did it himself.Maybe he didn't wanna appear to be the 'bad guy'?

This interview was great. Nice job. Cat was my favorite Prince dancer of all time. She was the best dancer that Prince has ever had. She had the energy and moves to go with P's music. I love the old videos that she was in. Cat made you feel like you were there with this interview. She could write a nice book if she wanted to, about her life as a dancer, & choreographer. Has Cat ever judged a dance show? I could see her doing that. I wish I could've been a fly on the wall to see Cat dancing in the clubs with Shabba Doo and dancers like that. She had so much personality. Cat wasn't at the Hollywood clubs acting stuck up, and looking at people, she was on the dance floor getting down! I like her. My favorite part was Prince telling Madonna about her wanting to battle Cat. "I don't think you want to do that". Hilarious!

You beat me to the punch, lol. I loved hearing her memories, but all that talk about empire-building is a turn-off. A lot of it sounded like she was auditioning for "Celebrity Apprentice" or something. Other than that, good interview. Cat, if you're reading this, love you baby, but... relax. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
