What's got u more excited..the new P stuff or the NEW BOWIE single & pending album...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news...s-20943160

"He's a proper artist. He doesn't release records because it's time for another record. He releases records when there's something for him to say."

Yesterday my head was in a spin with all the 3rd eye stuff BUT today, 10 years of waiting is over. Amazing new single, CD to follow and the genius is back! I cannot wait. So just a thought, as P is always doing something and B has been away for so long who's getting u more excited!

Heard the new Bowie this morning and was not excited. I like Bowie but this is not great. New Prince stuff is much more exciting for me.

RIP sad

wow, look at the impact that the Bowie news has had..it's everywhere. I wonder if 3rd eye is meant to be as underground as it has been so far i.e. aimed at his hardcore fans. Have to say that the new Bowie track is beautiful..imagine if P is on the album!!

20 plus years of hardcore fandom means I can't help but be more excited about Prince, but the Bowie single is better than anything we've heard from 3rd Eye Girl so far.

Wow I bleeping love the new Bowie track. Beautiful, haunting. Classic Bowie. How anybody can say they don't like this song is beyond me.

So incredibly psyched the Thin White Duke is back.

Can't say what I'm more excited for.

The reason why Bowies news is making more of a splash is that he's been underground for what ten years now? There's also been rampant specualtion about his health and a lot of people saying he'll never record again.

I'm a big Bowie fan but I have to strongly disagree with you. Where are we now? is a very average song. Nice lyrics, weird atmosphere but I'm quite disappointed.

While this time I'm a lot more excited with the new Prince tunes.

You know it is not because you go for sadness and melancoly that makes the music better in the end.

Well go listen again to the Reality album or Outside for instance and tell me Where are we know would even deserve to be on these great Bowie albums?

It is a nice but a very average tune I'm afraid.

I know it is a lot more trendy to say Bowie is good and P is crap. But this time I think the new P stuff is hell lot more exciting and upliflting as well.

Yeah those are both great albums you mentioned but I'm not comparing the song to anything he's done on the past. I think it stands on its own and sounds great. I think your looking for something upbeat which is why your not feeling it.

Don't get me wrong. I love the weird cold Bowie. The Brian Eno instrumental work. I like it all big time. I just think the melody of Where are we now is flat and uninteresting.

But I'm glad you enjoy it!

I'm very excited about The Next Day release in March still. What is happening is quite incredible. I thought we would never have a new CD from him. I feel a bit emotional about it to be honest. I love this man so much.

But back to P... I'm digging his last efforts big time. smile

I'm more excited about the new Prince stuff that's surfacing. I not a huge Bowie fan but do have a greatest hits collection of his and even that only has about 7 tracks that grab me.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Actually the only reason it's in this forum is because once again we only talk about some artists when it's in a comparitive battle with Prince. There's no true link between the two artists other than they released music within days of each other.

I was fully prepared to say Bowie, but honestly the new Prince stuff has me ultra-stoked. The songs are cool, but the SOUND is badass.

Since music isn't a contest and good/bad is a matter of opinion, I'm can be extremely happy about both. At least with Bowie we know for a fact that there's an album coming out in March. With Prince, this may be it all year or it may develop into an embarrassment of riches. Who know? I'm thankful for both. Dylan, Bowie, Prince and Steely Dan are the only long-lived acts that still deliver more than not for me. The certainty of one and the possibility of two have me more than turgid with anticipation.

no matter how jaded i might have become, new prince music always manages

to whip me into a frenzy. if a tune is said to be released the next day i can't go

to bed before i've heard it lol if they're actually gonna confirm the rumour

that prince may open up the vault this year, i won't be able to sleep for a month

i'm affraid. dead

but the new bowie album has me stoked! love the single. with this, possible new

prince album or the vault opening and the atoms for peace album all just on the

horizon, 2013's first three months promise to bring me more good music than

the whole of 2012 did (apart from the amazing bat for lashes album)

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Kinda wish Prince used the kind of publicity machine that got Bowie on the main BBC News....miss the days of seeing Prince seen and discussed in the mainstream media, also it sounds like a very good, deep and heartfelt track. Prince would do well if he released something so honest and heartfelt.

Killer, honest, deep, mature and heartfelt track + good publicity = Prince would be a hit again.

Where are we know? is a killer track for you?!!!! Woaw

I think you got it all wrong. Bowie will sell more cds than usual because there is publicity around his supposed retirement and illness.

But you know... Bowie has not had a proper commercial success for a very very long time.

Check his last 10 cds. His sales are not great at all. Despite the quality.

Most young people know shit about him.

Same situation for Prince.

^ Yes but he obviously has a strong publicity machine for it to get all over the news. I thought that track was very strong as it was honest heartfelt and original. Also the video was kinda fascinatingly weird which is again a good way of attracting interest.

If Prince chose a killer track and marketed it right he would be all over the news again too.

Sorry but we do not have the same notion of what a killer track is. What are we know? is a nice little average Bowie tune. I don't see major radio stations playing it for long. Too sad, too mellow, too weird, too flat.

I much prefer the new Prince stuff. And again I love Bowie as much as I love Prince.

Prince could release his best tune ever and market it, nobody would give a shit. He is indie. He does not belong to the official network anymore.

But as soon as he announces new gigs, that's a different story.

^ I totally disagree....Prince has never been 'indie'. The trouble is he's been out of the spotlight mostly due to poor promotion for so long the average person has kind of forgotten him as if he hasn't released anything since the 80s.

90% of the critics seem to disagree with you on the Bowie song - it resonates with you....the new P tracks were quite forgettable in that they weren't really breaking any new ground.

Prince could be greater....that stuff was pretty average to me when you know what he's capable of......
