Spreecast #3 RECAP

Summary of this weeks Spreecast with the seth and old doc

old doc wore a goofy ass hat that was less then flattering - leave the cool hats to P

Discussed the new web site and that fans asked for it and we got it

Mentioned the world tour that Prince is preparing for

Talked about the Dakota shows being epic and changing the venue forever

Bobby Z - very gratious and simply awesome!

old doc disturbing every segment when BobbyZ was talking by banging on his keyboard mad its called mute! Learn how to use it!

People in the chat room telling him to stfu - old doc ignores them and keeps on making noise - pay attention to whats going on in the chatroom on a show your supposed to be hosting disbelief

old doc brags to Bobby Z how often he's seen Prince live (really?) Also how a great drummer makes a huge difference in the overall performance...I actually agree with that statement....then started rambling about how he'd hate to be the performer that plays Staples Center after him...Bobby Z luckliy brings it back on point and discusses the difficulity playing in a big arenas

Bobby Z answers fan question about The Vault "Of course...its a taped locker at Paisley Park"

There's tons of unreleased material , movies and he's a documentarian and wants to preserve this stuff. It's definitly there!

Another viewer asked a great questioned that its a shame didnt get answered...

"Bobby, how much of the Roadhouse Garden album was completed?"

Fan asks about the drum work on DarlingNikki and his favorite question playing live - Bobby answered he wont give away the special sause on how they played it live and his favorite song to play live is Purple Rain and that he is so blessed and thankful to be on a song that is now a standard

Finally got around to discussing Bobby's amazing My Purple Heart organization and event

Bobby really opened up about his heart attack and his surgery and that Prince was one of the first people to contact him at the hospital. The show this year is dubbeed BobbyZ and friends and talked about the outpouring of support from Questlove and Mya and her Princess band, Andre Cymone, Dez and others

For more information go here>>> https://www.facebook.com/...409291356/

Bobby addressed Prince understanding the internet before most did (especially the labels) and his business savvy and ultimately as a performer being so lucky to be his drummer and a fan! No one has the command of a band and the audience like Prince. Well said!

the old doc had to ask one final question about the Chappele skit and Bobby addressed it that the fact is Prince loves sports and playing sports and that the Rick James part was really just a glimmer of the real Rick and that he learned alot about life (not the drug stuff) from Rick James

The seth did a very good job with the interview with the amazing, fabulous and one and only BobbyZ

[Edited 1/25/13 9:51am]

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

SpiritOtter

Could you be any more condescending towards Dr Funkenberry?

A word of advice - it actually reflects poorly on you in the end.

love,

Spirit

Cool Tidbit is when someone asked Bobby Z who played drums on Head & he mentioned it was P. Didn't know that. He recalls seeing the lyrics to Head & says "That was just Prince at the time" & that he said you'll like it, it's very Funky.

Anyone who is not watching the spreecast live is missing out on so much. This spreecast was the best one so far and we all had so much fun. Even though no major news was announced. I think these spreecasts are moving in the right direction and really enjoying the chemisty between funk and seth.

Really enjoyed spree cast #3 especially Bobby Z! He looks amazing and the Love that he has for Prince is infectious. He moved me close to tears a couple of times speaking of Prince and their times together.
Just a note to Seth and funkenberry, all the typing when a (Special) Guest is speaking is distracting I'm sure to the guest as well as the listeners. I'm sure the spreecasts will get better over time. Keep em coming.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Bobby Z is a class act. It was really touching hearing how he still admires Prince. He really gets Prince & his artistry & views him as the greatest artist ever. eye agree..

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Jealousy? The poster does have a link to his own music web site so perhaps that is it? Criticizing someone'e hats and looks is quite juvenile. The hat was funny as it was an ode to the "Screwdriver" video n I bet Prince got a kick out of it n maybe was his idea.

Doc was actually telling another person the keyboard was loud when typing on camera and the users let him know they could hear his. He apologized. Didn't hear too much after that. The problem may be the highlight users comments to have on to discuss which is a cool part of the interactivity.

The constant dissing of the doc is the only thing getting old. He feeds us news and concert info from the purple camp and makes these spreecasts happen where we can talk to Bobby Z., which Prince has NEVER allowed anyone to do before, showing major trust, (Not to mention the shout out he got from Prince himself in Billboard) but instead of being grateful, let's hate on him til he decides to not do this anymore. If it was so easy to do, why isn't anyone else doing it?

Doc reached out to Seth via Twitter months to have someone be the co-host of shows like this. Seth is a great co-host to the doc. Seth's other spreecasts have a few hundred viewers. The past 3 shows combined are already past 100,000.

The things about spreecast that is bothersome is the camera's freeze and the audio drops in and out, let alone I cannot access it on my Ipad. The typing was a lot but the questions being asked were coming at a faster rate. Over time, sure that will be fixed. I welcome it because it is a way for us to interact with Bobby and I like the vibe of the room. Just get the camera situation and audio situations worked out and the show wouldn't frustrate me so much.

You know, I also have an issue with how unprofessional Funkenberry is. Somehow he makes these events about him and his actual knowledge of Prince's music is subpar at best. "we learned exclusively that Prince played drums on Head and Darling Nikki."???? Who didn't know that? I totally respect what the Dr does for Prince fans, but the good Dr needs to know, it's about Prince and his music, not him. It's hard for me to see him as a Prince expert when he arrived to the party in the mid 90's, waaaay after Prince's purple reign. I hope he's heard of the names Eileen Murton and Sam Nation, they also used to report the Prince news for him, sometimes the kiss of death is to get too close to the purple one.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

i don't know why folks are hating the doc. maybe that's the story whenever someone gets close or is perceived to be close to prince? could it be competitive or something? dunno. anyway i'm glad drfunkenberry is out there, feeding us news. i'm just grateful
