Yeah, it's not like he's got anything better to do. Was he afraid they would have better, funkier ideas than he had? Did he not want to be reminded of where he came from? Was it because he wouldn't have full control of the master? Who knows.

And, it's about time someone other than Morris showed a little edge when talking about the name change. Terry called it right when he said Prince was a chronic litigator. See, they'd rather spend time in the studio, not the courtroom, Prince. I mean, these brothers hadn't even put a full plan in motion, regarding the comeback album (I would LOVE to hear what they originally had planned), yet back in '08 when they were served one of Prince's famous cease-and-desist letters. Jesus, take the stick outta yo' ass, Prince. We know your old music is the ONLY good thing you're good for and holding on to now, but for fuck's sakes, loosen the hell up!

I wonder if Prince being a JW is the reason why he didn't want to work with them hmmm Their pimp/playa image seems to be in direct conflict with his relgious lifestyle.

But to be honest,I'm glad that he wasn't involved.I knew that the guys could make an incredible album without him and they proved it.

I wouldn't say that Soul. On his recent tour he played the Time's songs as to say yeah

i own this shit and he played the music but not sing Darlin Nikki.

Great article. Thanks for posting man.

Another article where they are being tightlipped/vague on Prince's reasoning. We can all make assumptions but I surely will like to know for sure what his side was.

Honestly, I don't think they are being tight-lipped at all. It is clear from the tone of their comment that they were angry and perturbed with Prince for refusing use of the name, and that they think he is a prick for even making this an issue after 30 years. The only thing they are not doing is gossiping and fit , which I am happy to see. I don't really need anything else from them.

They're taking the high road.It would be easy to diss Prince in the press, and spend all their time telling the world what we already know: Prince can be an asshole at times lol I think they just wanna focus on the new album.

Yes they are taking the high road and I guess its up to Prince to tell his side of the story which we know will never happen.

They would have doubled the recording budget by putting money in Prince's profanity jar. razz

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Maybe Prince didn't want to be involved because he felt they were good on their own. Or maybe he just simply wasn't interested. I'm one who wish he accepted their invitation.
