Questions for fdeluxe??

Hi everyone:

I´ll be interviewing fdeluxe soon probably for the radio show I have here in spain, so i´d like all you purple lovers to help me out with it, use this topic to send me all the questions you always wanted to ask Paul and Susannah and I´ll make them all via skype to the band....

Thanks in advance

Thanks for asking us.

Q: Were there any songs that didn't make the cut for the album? If so, will we be seeing these or demo versions of the LP tracks as downloads any time in the near future?

Q: Care to set the record straight about Prince's alleged stranglehold of the "Family" name usage and if he indeed has legal rights to the group name? Was the whole issue basically a power play by Prince who knew a court battle would have been a financial and creative drain on you folks?

Thanks! Very satisfying album.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

^^^Good questions. Additionally, were there any outtakes that didn't make it on the original Family LP? Are you planning to tour/perform at any more venues in the U.S? European fans have been asking if you will hope over the pond, too. wink

Kind of hard to think of any questions that they haven't answered a bunch of times already on all the chats they've done over the last 4 years.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Exactly, that´s my main dificulty... but you know, having this chance to talk to them one on one I don´t want to miss it by asking obvious things...that´s why I need your help

Good Q's, I don't expect an indepth answer to the second one, but it's worth asking and I'm sure their uhms, ahhhs ad sighs will tell a story even if that's all the answer they give!

Actually now the album is out, the name thing seems like a closed chapter, doesn't feel like it's hanging over the whole thing anymore - the project feels fresh and new smile

I have to agree with that. This is their music and their CD as opposed to a Prince directed project. It's very exciting listening to what they came up with on their own.(Ditto for The Original 7ven)

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Q. - Is 'Gaslight' just the start for FDeluxe as a group? Will there be future CDs?

To Susannah: when you recorded the song "Miss Understood", was that originally going to be on The Family album? Was it dropped when the tone of the album was locked in?

To the band: Did any of you play any instruments on the original album?

To the band: Is that Jerome on the song "Yes" saying 'yes' and 'no!'?

To Paul: What did you think was the strongest song or songs on the old album. What are your favs on the new one?

To the Band: How did recording this album compare to the last one? (My guess is that they'll say they were just hired hands for the old one, but this one required much more heavy lifting!)

I'll think of more.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Susannah had no say in the first place. Shouldn't you keep the questions to stuff they can actually answer?

Cool. what did she have to say about it?

It is a very valid question. If she was involved in the project, she might know why it was dropped, or at least have some speculation on the subject. She was in a relationship with the man, and they probably had occasional chats about the projects they worked on... especially one that she was fronting.

Either way, I am curious what she had to say. Is it in an article somewhere? Thanx for the info and I look forward to your interview.

My question "Would the group be open to touring with Prince?" "Would you be open to collaborating with Prince on future projects?"
I hope they continue to record.

Doesn't matter if she has. That album (like the associated albums before it) was handpicked by Prince. Not Susannah. No amount of convenient memory will fix that fact.

She did have a say on this particular song (despite what Spinlight says). On one of the fDeluxe uStream webcasts she indicated that P had Miss Understood lined up to be on the album. He took it off after she (adamantly) insisted that it not be included. She hated and still hates her vocal performance on that song. That's why it was not included.

I want to know if they'll hit any other cities in the US besides LA, NY and MN.

Also, any chance of a new Eric Leeds solo album coming out anytime soon.

BTW, love fDeluxe's album...its been a week since downloading it and liking it more and more. Drummers & Healers is the one I just can't seem to get enough of.
