i dont hate her, but im definitely.. offput by her, and im not sure why her being there is necessary. i personally believe she doesnt add very much

I don't hate her, but I do think her style just doesn't mesh much with Prince's back catalog. She overpowers on stage, is given waaayyy too much time, and is an unnecessary "hype woman". She's talented in her own right, yes. But she does absolutely nothing for me on Prince's stage, and in fact, she detracts from time to time.

But "hate", nope. You might be alone on that one, homey.

She is ruining all his recent concerts in Europe. Much worse than Tony M imo.

Let's just say I wouldn't mind if she wakes up with a really bad cold tomorrow and won't be able to sing. You know, just that one night.

Is she the bald one? I'm sure if she was hotter, then fans would like her more. She has a good voice and Prince wants her there and wants her as involved in the show as she is. It's all entirely up to him.

I doubt people would like her if she were hot. Did you read the comments about Andy Allo? lol Of course it's all up to Prince, but that doesn't mean we have to like her, right?

I can't really speak for anyone else, but the first thing they seem to mention most of the time is that she's very annoying. Then to insult her, they tell her to get her big ugly bald head off the stage.

UR Crazy... Maybe some people are put off because she sings a lot instead of Prince, BUT she has one of the most powerful voices I've ever heard live.... If I were Prince, I'd let her sing too.

The Sista is loud and has a strong stage presence. I rather like Rosie better on stage with Prince. Hate....NO

well there' s nothing annoying about her to me. and I don't hate her. This is such a mean thread. I really feel that the OP just hates her for the way she looks...that's sad.

I been saying this! When I made a post about this similar topic last year, I was accused of being racist for singling out Shelby because she's a dark-skinned chick with a bald head (even though I'm black). Her last televised appearance with Prince on Le Grand Journal was cringeworthy during the opening number when she went into her "thing" talking about she got the "vocals on lock" in the NPG. I said it once and I'll say it again: i'll take The Twinz singing backup over Shelby anytime. At least the twinz role in the band was mostly visual. You don't have to look at the performer, but it's hard to ignore an overpowering and wrongfully empowered vocalist.

If Andy were to shave her head tomorrow -- barring a really unfortunate head shape -- folks would swoon.

Shelby is an aggressive performer who gets hers. Prince digs that about her, obviously. He's always had an affinity for her kind of entertainer -- fits the Rosie, Boni, Tina model that complements his Ikeness. Folks always seem to forget about the Ike influence on P.

I remember being front row at an O2 aftershow,with some orgers and one of Shelby's big bangles came flying off her wrist.Carpark caught it and held it up for her to get back but she bent down and told her she could have it...It was a cool moment.

Not like me though I still live with the guilt of stealing and drinking Beverley Knights's bottle of water

no, she seems cool..

but she is just TOO present at the shows...

i could see sheila e commanding this much of prince's attention..but although she has a great voice, i dont really think she adds much to the show.

and she shouldnt be given full songs to sing at prince concerts.. i want to hear 'when doves cry', not misty blue...

She has had her time, now it's time she was on her way along with the other backing singers.

I think she is an odd compliment to Prince and I don't think it particularly works chemistry wise, but musically she has a great voice, though almost drowns Prince out at times. Though maybe that's why he hired her? She certainly belts out that tunes... I always feel it's quite cynical of Prince to hire her. They don't seem to have ANY chemisty on stage, I've never heard him talk about her, and in a few years time she'll disappear without a trace, never to be seen again just like the rest of them...ie Cat, Wendy and Lisa, Dr Fink.. etc, etc.. the list goes on...

Why are you shocked? Prince has always made different choices with his band and always will.

I am warning you all now, in 2 years there will be someone else you won't like.

Accept this fact and move on or listen to another band
