expanded and remastered edition of Andre Cymone's 'A/C' due this summer from Big Break Records

If you're on Facebook, check out the Big Break Records page! thumbs up!

I was gonna post the "Dance Electric" video but don't wanna get in trouble (lol) so I'll post one of the tracks that Prince wasn't involved with.

"Book Of Love" by Andre Cymone (1985)

Big Break Records always do a great job with their CDs.Their CDs include extensive liner notes, interviews and bonus tracks.I'm pretty sure that "Red Light" will appear as one of the bonus tracks....

It about time that someone gave Andre's albums some proper treatment and release on CD

hopefully Dance Electric will be on there. Hope there's a proper reason to buy this i.e. new / unrealeased trax. Let's be honest most of us will buy this for the Prince track. AC needs to step up to to plate and put some new stuff on it and show what all the hype about him being as talented as P is all about. I have no doubt that he could do it. Come on AC, show yourself!

I have been a hardcore Prince fan since 1979 and I have never heard any hype about Cymone being as talented as Prince.

well i've been around since '82 ! and I have read several reports , especially at the start of P's career, how AC was at least as good a muscian as P, inspired early tracks, played / produced uncredited etc.

Reports are fine I suppose. But since it is music, the proof is in what we have heard. I have never heard Cymone write, sing, or play as good as Prince on anything - going back to those Cookhouse/94 East recordings. THe only real hit Cymone had was a song Prince wrote for him.

But to each his own - if you think he is as talented as Prince, enjoy it.

I bought this 12 inch when it was released. I always wondered why Red Light was listed as an edited version. I dont know that I have heard any other version.

He's certainly a better producer.

And yeah- I'd love to have these albums remastered.

I liked the stuff he did with Jody Watley but other than "The Dance Electric", I just could never get into Andre.

Even knowing the history, he always sounded like a cheap knock off to me.

It's a great album, a bit weird but definitely great BECAUSE it's a bit weird lol André's work deserves to be rereleased, his 3 solo albums + The Girls.

This rerelease would be absolutely amazing if it contained the full, unedited, 10 minutes-long version of The Dance Electric by André.

I prefer his solo work actually, I always found Jody's material really plodding. A few good tracks no doubt, but it's a hard slog.

I dont know about that but he damn sure isnt equal to Prince in any phase of music making. People who want to make him as good as Prince are subject to what I like to call the Wendy and Lisa theory: some way certain old Prince associates are given some credit for making Prince or being better than Prince but never quite proved it after Prince.

I was just thinking of him saturday night when the DJ at the spot I was attending spinned Dance Electric, we were in shock because he went from hip hop to The Dance Electric and the kids of course thought it was Prince, but I schooled them as usual..I thought how cool his music was and the great work he did on Jody Watley's first solo record.

Hmm, it's a nice theory except for when taking W&L's last album into account - it being better and more adventurous than anything Prince has released in the last decade.
