Any Prince/Sheila E fan know the story behind this song?

I didn't think there was a story behind it. Just a very fun, very cool song about whether you should give it up right away or hold out for love and a wedding ring. That's how I interpret it, anyway.

Lyrically,this song seems like a sequel to "The Glamorous Life".Both songs seem to be about a woman who is interested in true love...ready to take that step.

I can tell you that the pride and passion track is without a doubt my favorite, and prince wrote alot of this albums work. there are also never released video suggested by japanese commercials, featuring clips of songs such as hold me

I think it's half and half: five Prince compositions and five where Sheila collaborated with others.

I also think we have all the information we need in the lyrics. It seems to be about an internal debate between staying "proud" (which I read as being more of a "lady"--in other words, not being the kind of girl who goes home with a guy immediately after meeting him) and surrendering to passion.

First she's going to try to play the man, but as soon as he kisses her hand, she knows she's "stuck"--she's interested in him. And he wants to take her home. So now she has to decide if she does that kind of thing.

Second verse is all about her mulling it over.

Third verse, she goes for it and goes home with him. They have sex. But are they destined to be together? If they're not (she's "wrong"), then she should expect a massive drag (heartbreak). If she chose wisely, more power to her.

still the could have been, should have been, would have been hits, majoritly were composed, n wrote by none other than the purple one himself Prince, not to go against the other great tracks done by the lovely Sheila and company. bcuz it was her album, & Sheila is jus plain amazing

Wasn't "Koo Koo" also an early title for the album? I had a friend who worked in a record store around that time, and he said that prerelease info for it listed "Koo Koo" as the title. But maybe he was wrong.

Could've been.Maybe they played around with different titles,to try to come up with a theme for the album.

What the hell? A conversation about the MUSIC of an associated artist? Well I'll be damned.
