Vanity's debut vs Apollonia 6's debut?

Vanity had the potential and was the original..

But personally i love the A6..sex shooter, blue limo, a million miles and some kinda lover..

Vanity, definitely. She had "IT".

Apollonia was gorgeous, but that was all. She couldn't really sing, and she didn't believe what she was selling. She seemed so bored.

Vanity believed in the music, even if it sucked. Plus, she really had that rare and unique energy that' so hard to find. Vanity really was an original. It's too bad that her drug habit got in the way of her reaching the top. I think that she could have made it big.

Vanity all the waaayyyy (o:

Vanity by FAR..She was way more believeable as a "sex shooter" so to speak..btw I love Vanity's version of Sex Shooter better..Plus she had Nasty Girl, and that song was sexy as hell

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Vanity is the Original, Apples is the Pepsi one of Vanity. Not nearly as good but gives you the same vague taste in your mouth.

Vanity's version of Sex Shooter is almost universally agreed to be better. Vanity's vocals and dancing were much better than Apollonia. Despite her personal problems, Vanity had a stage presence that extended a hundred yards in any direction. There is a reason that once Vanity was swapped out Prince took all of the strongest tracks off of Vanity 6's second album. Think about Vanity singing this track list:

The Glamorous Life

Manic Monday

Ooo she she wa waa

17 days

Next time wipe the Lipstick off your collar

Noon Rendezvous

Sex Shooter

Take me with U

Happy Birthday Mr. Christian

Some Kind of Lover

Now think about this album backed by the promotional super machine known as the Purple Rain Movie. This record would have been as big as Control for Janet Jackson. I know that Prince isn't the easiest guy to work with in the world, but if Vanity had held on a little longer and got this material out she would probably still be a household name today.

Furthermore the Purple Rain movie makes more sense with Vanity in Apples place. The seduction/basement scene comes off a little strange, and it makes more sense if Prince is going back and forth with a more confident, predatory woman. Also the scene where Prince leaves Apples naked by the lake, he looks like a major asshole. But if you put Vanity in her place and Vanity is kind of being a smart ass, it makes Princes actions seem more justified and believable.

I think Apollonia is a nice person and I am actually facebook friends with her, but she was Vanity's UNDERSTUDY, nothing more.

Why is it always Vanity versus Apollonia, like it is some sort of competition? It is OK to like both of them! I have the Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 album and I love them equally. We all know neither were fantastic singers but I don't care cos the music is great.

I always preferred Apollonia over Vanity! I never really saw the appeal of Vanity...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Romeoblu

I really like both albums.

A6 has Blue Limosuine and A Million Miles ( Ilove You) which might jus swing it that way.

I just the extended version of Drive Me Wild was on the Vanity 6 album, that would then probably swing it for Vanity.

I do think Vanity was the better of the two as lead. However it's the music created by Prince for me which makes these albums what they are more than anything else.
