Ha. I remember watching that shit live on MTV. It use to crack me up the old cogger in the background stuff they filmed saying if he ever broke another horse he was going to name it Prince. Classic cool

they are my fav from Paisley Park. I think if Prince had put time and effort into them and the Family he would have another triple threat situation. BUT that beating a dead horse I know. Awesome video

I don't understand why they never officially released a 2nd album (and the wait behind actually putting work towards a second effort).

I don't know how quickly the debut album was certified gold, but usually going gold gaurantees a second album.

I know that, but it only saw a limited release in canada as a promo. (if my memory serves correct)

I can't even be sure if legit copies of the 2nd album exist anymore

I have seen a picture of the booklet from a distance but thats about it.

I think Mazarati could have scored a charting single and had a punchers chance to survive in the new jack swing 90s.

Terry mentioned a new album in the works around the same time as the reunion performance but its obvious that we will probably never see one.

Great quality footage and slick sideway-moves which Romeo, Screamer & Tony make. Thanks for posting.

A few lp copies of Maz' 2nd album were auctioned online popsike.com - mazarati - ...on results

The vinyl lp's appeared more online for sale than the official cd, which i've only seen appear on eBay once.

Sick, thanks, I need to get one of those, I love the cover for the 2nd album.

I have the bootleg CD, I got scammed for 100 bux.

I think it was.

I couldn't find the 2nd album online at the time and I happened to enjoy the music.

I wish I knew the story about G-Sharp though, I wonder if they were trying to replace Terry.

I watched that live back in the day and had taped the whole premier so I watched it a lot. Honestly, I thought Mazarati's performance was really weak. They were not tight. Appeared nervous - not surprising considering they were playing live on TV in front of more people than they could imagine.

On the other hand, Prince's musical performance at the premier was smokin' hot. Killer version of "Mutiny".

Lol

Prince is one of the best live performers in modern history, I dont think its fair comparing him to Mazarati.

I wish Screamer had a solo, I think he is really good and its a shame that he hasn't had very many chances to showcase his skills. He ripped shit up in the red velvet swagg robe at the reunion concert.

Lol!

Good Lord, I wasn't comparing them. They were terrible all by themselves.

At the time I had 3 very good friends also into Prince and the MPLS Sound and we'd watch that performance (and Jerome trying to interview guests at the premier - trainwreck!) and just crack up. Especially that part at the end - the syncopation is pathetic. And the lead vocals are weak too. Not too surprisingly, the world never heard a peep from Mazerati again. In all fairness to those guys though Prince usurped that band from Brown Mark and tried to make them into these glam rockers which according to Brown Mark they were not at all. SHould have left them to their own devices byt Prince was not very good at that. Still isn't.

That premier and the Purple Rain premier said it all about where Prince was at in his career and where things were going at the respective times.

The syncopation is pathetic?

I see the complete opposite, especially when they break into Cool.

Its one thing to dislike the music, but to make claims that don't have much evidence to support them isn't going to register in my mind.

I can understand why someone would complain about the vocals, that is a common complaint about the group, but overall I think they did well enough.

Things were such a mess at Paisley Park Records. Most of the artists (Mazarati,Jill Jones,Taja Sevelle,The Family, etc) never even made a second album.Albums were released with very little promotion.I sometimes got the feeling that Prince wasn't even aware of some of the artists who were signed to the label, lol.

Regarding Mazarati....things fell apart for them in late 1986 when BrownMark decided to leave the Prince camp.He signed with Motown and took Mazarati with him.He wasn't pleased with what Prince had done with the band."He made them dress like that",he said."I got blamed for alot of things",he added, referring to the album's lack of success.

I've seen a few clips of them, 1 especially with Sheila E & Eddie M performing with them and they were on it, they rocked Head(Sheila on drums) America and a few others

Can you please share some of your memories from the Under the Cherry Moon premiere party in Sheridan Wyoming? Including everyone's reaction when you all found out that the premiere was going to take place in such a small town.

Dr Fink: We played at the Holiday Inn Ballroom which was the largest venue in Sheridan and it just couldn't accommodate our large lighting rig because the ceiling wasn't high enough. The lights were to close to us and it was very hot and bright so it was an uncomfortable situation. Other than that we had a great show and had a lot of fun in spite of the technical issues with the venue.
