Do you remember the single version? Totally different from the album, it was very live and in the video there were muscled men that the drum parts were attached too

I bought the album looking for that upbeat version

Hmmm, not sure what you mean. I think the single was the album version (actually, I think Lady Marmalade was the b-side to the Cry Baby single, but I could be remembering wrong). Anyway, I think what you're referring to is the clip of her performance of this song on Arsenio Hall, where she had drums strapped to the backs of scantily clad men. (She also performed the song on Rick Dees' Into the Night late-night talk show, but she didn't have the drums on dudes in that). In that performace, she is definitely Prince-ing it up, and it works great. I love it. But I love the album version too. smile

Maybe it was one of these

1. Sex Cymbal - 12" Mix
2. Sex Cymbal - Jungle Groove Mix
3. Sex Cymbal - 4 On The Floor Mix

4. Bass Line - Instrumental
5. Dropping Like Flies - Black Flag Club Mix
6. Dropping Like Flies - Venus Dub Mix
7. Dropping Like Flies - Combat Bonus Beats
8. Dropping Like Flies - Mental Club Mix
9. Dropping Like Flies - Instrumental Mix
10. Heaven - Album Version

Just filling in some extra info. In Europe, the third single for the Glamorous Life album was Noon Rendezvous. The 7" came in a plain mint green sleeve with a hole so you can see the label. Noon Rendezvous is definitely the A side smile I never saw a 12" of that track.

Also, there's a "the Glamorous Club" EP that came out in Japan between Romance 1600 and Sheila E. The most interesting thing here is that it contains a version of Love On A Blue Train track that is quite different from the released version. The other tracks on the EP are the mixes of The Glamorous Life, Sister Fate and The Belle Of St Mark.

And then there's the B-Sides she had. Not sure if I am complete, but the first 3 albums had:

-Too Sexy (on the Belle Of St Mark)

-Save the People (on Sister Fate)

-The World is High (on Hold Me)

-Paradise Gardens (on Koo Koo)

Save the People and Paradise Gardens had longer versions on the 12".

Wow what a great thread. Sheila E is so talented and beautiful, what a great combo! I'm gonna be sure to collect her albums and get familiar with both her R&B and latin music. Not too familiar with her outside of her Prince days.
I'm in the mood for love...simply because your near me.

whoa!! They looked hot together. I know they dated, but never really pictured them as a couple. They looked good together. Massively talented, and passionate. He should have married her. smile

Some random Sheila pictures, not related to this thread, but nice all the same. And because she rocks!
