Prince Proteges/Related Playlist

I'm making a playlist of Prince proteges... here's my list of artists on there, who am I forgetting?

Andre Cymone - The Dance Electric

Dez Dickerson - Modernaire

The Time

Vanity 6

Apollonia 6

Vanity solo ("Mechanical Emotion" featuring Morris Day)

Sheila E

Mazarati

The Family

Tevin Campbell ("Shhh..." and "Round and Round")

Morris Day

Jesse Johnson/Jesse Johnson Revue

Sheena Easton ("Sugar Walls")

Sinead O'Connor ("Nothing Compares to U")

The Bangles ("Manic Monday")

Wendy & Lisa (Which song makes the most sense to choose?)

Madhouse (Which song makes the most sense to choose?)

Rosie Gaines (Which song makes the most sense to choose?)

Who am I forgetting? I didn't think Alexander O'Neal fit... I loved his stuff in the 80s, but not sure it's as Prince-related as others....

The one whose absence immediately screams out to me is Jill Jones, but there are others missing from your list. Assuming your definition of 'related' artists includes those for whom Prince just wrote one song then Ernest's link is a good starting point, but it's not comprehensive, so you'll need to do a bit more digging (if you're going to be completist about it).

Off the top of my head: Joe Cocker, Kid Creole, Martika, Taja Sevelle, 'Chaka mad' Khan, TC Ellis, Stevie Nicks, Mica Paris, Patti Labelle, Celine Dion, Ingrid Chavez, and Kenny Rogered.

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

is your playlist proteges or artist prince has worked with and or written songs for???

Sinead O"Connor and the Bangles are not a proteges.

Related artists however don't forget El DeBarge

Wendy & Lisa weren't proteges either. But the thread title says /Related, so I assume he's including all of them.

It's going to be a long playlist.

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Most of those people aren't really Prince proteges(especially Sinead O'Connor, the Bangles, Sheena Easton) but I know what our trying to do

I would do them according to years 1980's 1990's etc

Then do one of true Proteges: the Time, Vanity 6, A6, Sheila E. the Family, Mazarati, Jill Jones, Madhouse, Taj Sevelle and songs done by Prince and given to non-protege groups: Dance Electric, Manic Monday, Sugar Walls etc

What Vanity Morris the Time Wendy & Lisa etc did after Prince could be a seperate grouping

Well, I said PRINCE PROTEGES slash PRINCE RELATED

I think you need Manic Monday and Sinead's version of NOTHING COMPARES 2 U, for example...

I absolutely cannot do Celine Dion. So I'll have to do without 1 Prince-related I guess...

What I was looking for is, ones that scream out Prince Proteges or Prince Related...

What song choices should I use for people like Jill Jones, Rosie Gaines, Wendy an Lisa, etc?
One per artist for the Prince related... and for the Proteges, like Jesse and The Time...

Here's a nice quote from MORRIS DAY and THE TIME in Las Vegas... We paid for the VIP Meet and Greet... I ask:

"Jesse, who influenced you as a guitarist? Jimi?"

reply "Nope"

Brothers Johnson?

"Nope"

the Original Funkadelic?

"Nope"

Prince?

"Nope"

Then who?

"Me".
