I wasn't able to get that site to work, when I clicked download, nothing would happen. I'll try a different browser later, hopefully it will work. The page says it's available on Amazon and iTunes, but I couldn't find it on Amazon & don't use iTunes.

Yeah pure driven funk energy!!!!!
The musicianship on the album is outstanding from the opening beats of 'HYPER-FORMANTS' you kind of know its going to be something special. but then not only the funk/jazz driven tracks but also the beautiful mellow 'NO ORDINARY DAY' with Esperanza Spalding on vocals and 'JADA' with Sue Quin on vocals are just out of this world and the 'Stay in your head' tunes 'YOUR'E THE ONE' and 'AMAZING' with vocals by Charlie Singleton which you just can't stop singing. This is certainly an exceptional debut album and one John can certainly be very proud of, if this is a taste of things to come then I say Bring It On!!!!!

yes it is, the album is dedicated to the memory of John's young daughter who passed in 2004.
There is a beautiful song on the album called 'Jada' (John's daughter) where the words are directed at both Jada and Jia, a very emotional heartfelt song from a father with beautiful vocals by Sue Quin, you really got to hear it.

OMG, I can't believe I forgot to post about this! I went to John's drum clinic in AZ and was floored by his emotional performance of this song, it was INCREDIBLE!! Especially in such a small place and being able to watch him up close, it was a cool experience. He's such a humble, funny & 'real' guy and was great with the kids in the crowd. At the end, he did a trivia contest to give away stuff. One question was who was P's drummer before John. I said Michael B. & someone else said Sheila...both wrong, of course. I was puzzled until I was about 2 blocks away and then finally Kirky J's name popped into my old brain. Poor Kirk, we hardly think of him as one of Prince's drummers. So John had mentioned that he was performing with some friends at a jazz club and told us all to come out to see them the following night. Of course I couldn't pass that chance up, so a friend and I went and really enjoyed it. But John probably thinks I'm some crazy, stalker lady since I HAD to tell him I finally remembered the trivia answer and at the clinic I was the only one who had his new album, knew what the Rainbow Children album was and had to remind him that he'd been to Phoenix twice with Prince when he said he'd only been here in 2004 (was forgetting the ONA tour in '02). So Dori, if/when you talk to John, tell him the freak in AZ is a harmless crazy old lady, but not a stalker. Just someone who has always been fascinated with drummers and I especially love watching him play. (I even came home and ordered one of his clinic DVDs, which I'll watch with my 9 yr old grandson, who also went to the demo with me.) [Edited 4/14/10 8:51am]

It really was a cool couple of days and he really wowed the audience at the jazz club. They did two sets, but since it was a work night, we couldn't stay for the last one, but I bet they tore it up! He also gained a new fan in my friend and I've ordered her a copy of the CD too.
