Jill Jones is related to Berry Gordy (Motown founder)

I'm reading the liner notes to the re-mastered Teena Marie CD 'It Must Be Magic' and there are several references to Jill Jones, who was Teenas' backup singer back then (1981).It states that Jills' father is Fuller Gordy, brother of the Motown founder! This means that Berry Gordy is her uncle.

So,with Berry Gordy as her uncle, with Teena Marie as her good friend, and with Prince as the producer of her debut album, you would think that she would have REALLY made it big...lol...

Natasha

That makes No Sense as to why she couldn't release another album or if she had the Influence why she had to wait for 7 years being under Contract to Prince.

"I always feel like somebody watching meee"

MJ's vocal hook made that song a hit IMO. Song is kinda corny. Mike surely had the midas touch during this time.

I liked the "Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin" vocal and Michael's vocals at the end of the Jackson's "Wait." He had soul, where did it go??

well I don't think MJ lost His SOul Personally because the Live Version of "Man in The Mirrior" can Rival alot of His Stuff IMHO."Wait" is a alright song with the way He fades in."Remember The Time" showcases His Range rather well IMHO.

No one is pure anything what's up with all the racist remarks. Jill and Teena have the same mother she is Portugesse. Smile. Jill didn't want to make it on Teena's coat tail.
sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

Bullshit.Jill's mother is a lady named Winnie Martin(who was Teena's manager back then) and her father is Fuller Gordy(Berry's brother).Teena has NO relation to either of those people.

Fuller Gordy is not Jill's biological father. Jill said in some old interview that her Italian father wasn't around and said Prince was like a father figure. Evidently Fuller probably was a father figure to Jill at the time she was with Teena Marie like brother Berry was to young Michael Jackson. Jill's black mother raised Jill in Ohio. But to be fair I researched what you claim. And I found no info of Jill being a Gordy yet all the interviews came across said Jill's mother was black. Isn't odd that all the Jill Jones's interviews that she or the writer never once mention she is the uncle of high-profile Berry Gordy? Really if she was with her incredible voice wouldn't she been signed to Motown before Prince took her in?
Unless you have some additional proof I am going by Jill's father was Italian and her mother was black.
And please don't used Teena Marie's record liner note as a reliable source because that based on people's opinions, not facts.

The liner notes in Teena's 'It Must Be Magic' CD were written by respected journalist A.Scott Galloway and he actually interviewed TEENA HERSELF for these notes.I'm sure he got the information directly from Teena herself, and she is quoted several times in his essay. Here is the exact paragraph pertaining to Jill Jones...

"The Ballad of Cradle Rob and Me" is a collaboration between Teena and future Prince protegee' Jill Jones.JILL IS THE DAUGHTER OF WINNIE MARTIN,TEENA'S MANAGER THEN,AND FULLER GORDY,BROTHER OF THE MOTOWN FOUNDER.Teena had lived with them for a short time."Jill was like my baby sister",she says."She was in ninth grade when we wrote that---just bein' silly".

As for Jill's interviews...well,you have to take all that with a grain of salt.Prince's *own* early interveiws are filled with many lies,half-truths and misinformation about his race.So it's likely that he taught Jill the same tricks...lol...

I hated to say this but Fuller Gordy isn't Jill's real dad, maybe a father figure or Jill considered him to be a dad. Jill's is pretty outspoken about her interviews, I can't say they she tells every truth fact but the interviews I read she said her real dad walked out on her and she was raised by her mother and grandparents. I couldn't imagine of Fuller Gordy would abandoned Jill at a young age but she did said that.
I have more countless interviews and websites biography of Jill's father was Italian. Even her own website used to said that on her bio. And I am pretty sure Jill was the one who done her own bio. Just because A.Scott Galloway interview Ms. Marie he could still misinformed liner notes too, or misunderstood Ms. Marie, it happens. So Davideye, unless you could give another source saying that Jill Jones is a Gordy, I am sticking by what her website said and other interviews of her parentage.
I am aware of Prince's lies but if he wanted her to lied about her parents or then how come she never still mention about what it said on Teena Marie's liner note even after she left him?
So come up with addtional info then I will take it consideration.

I find this to be very believable. First of all, she definately is part black, you can tell. Now wheather it's her mother or father I don't know. If it says that in the liner notes on Teena Marie's "it must be magic' it is probably true, why would Teena lie? Fuller Gordy could has be her step father, you know. But she definately is mixed.

Sigh. I never say Teena Marie lied. Maybe the person who wrote the liner note misunderstood her, in other words Teena maybe said Fuller Gordy was like a father figure to Jill and the author could've wrote like Fuller being Jill's father. Sometimes journalists twisted words of what others say,it happens. Jill said herself her Italian father walked on her family when she was young and she lived with her grandparents while her mother travel a lot as a fashion designer before took the job as Teena Marie manager. I never denied Jill being mixed because I am black too and I could tell by looking a person having African ancestry.
