SoulAlive

1)"Under The Influence" (1986)---Her finest single. This is the song that should have taken her career to new heights.Unlike "Pretty Mess",this song is sexy but not trashy.....seductive but not sleazy. The production is superb and vocally,Vanity sounds great here. She's making a real effort at singing. Her vocals glide over the sexy melody.
2)"Faraway Eyes" (1988)---Written and produced by Jesse Johnson, this is another stellar Vanity song that should have been a big hit.Gorgeous melody and arrangement. This song (and "Under The Influence") proves that, with the right material and producer,Vanity can actually sound pretty good on a song, even though she isn't much of a singer.
3)"Mechanical Emotion" (1984)---Despite the atrocious lyrics and vocals, this is a killer funk groove.Captures the mid-80s Minneapolis Sound very well.Morris Day on the chorus is a nice addition.

1. Mechanical Emotion
2. Under the Influence
3. 7th Heaven.

All sexy and easy to groove to. She could have been a much bigger music artist than what we ended up with.

R.I.P Michael! Sad, the only time he was in peace, was when he wasn't alive.
