Why Sinead wont sing NC2U

I can't imagine P throwing a punch. Wonder what drove either one of them to get so angry.

Sinead O'Connor, 'Nothing Compares 2 U'

Soon after this exquisitely sad song topped the charts, O'Connor was invited to meet its diminutive author Prince ... to disastrous result. She told the Mirror that their exchange ended with both expletives and punches thrown, and some spittle for good measure. "All I could do was spit. I spat on him quite a bit," she admitted. Years later, when fans at a 2005 concert shouted "Prince!" during an encore, Sinead snapped, "F--- that f---ing midget!"

The experience couldn't have been too traumatic for her considering there's another Prince track she sang (This Lonely Life) in his vault and she obviously worked on it after NC2U.

She sang NC2U in Belgium just in 2008.

She's probably only one of a handful of musicians that can make Prince look completely sane, rational and non-flakey and non-contradictory. First she slams the pope and then tries to kiss his ass and say she never left the faith, then she retires and then say she didn't mean to retire from all music, then she comes out as lesbian and then retracts her statement, then she says she'll never performs her old music anymore and then she does it again just last year...

Someone just needs to smack her really hard and maybe she'll stop being so ridiculous.

I remember this crazy story lol She said that Prince cussed her out, sent his limo driver away and basically held her hostage at Paisley Park lol He criticized her for swearing in interviews."He found this offensive",O' Connor said. She has her own theory about why Prince mistreated her.

"His problem is that I did a song of his ("Nothing Compares 2 U") without him being involved",she said."He's jealous. And he did say to me that he wishes I had never done his song.I think that, frankly, that song saved his fucking ass.He was in serious financial trouble until that song happened".

Listen to the lyrics of "Days Of Wild" he has a verse about it.

"A woman everyday should be thanked, not disrespected not raped or spanked.
And if a woman ever said I did, she's a muthafuckin' liar, I'm a set up kid.
No disrespect y'all that's my style, these are the Days Of Wild."

I heard it was a reference to what Sinead said about him. He's have to confirm that for himself but that was what I was led to believe that verse was about. Mind you all of this was prior to the track being on the Gold Experience.

I've never heard that. The timing is a bit late. NC2U was 1990 for Sinead. TGE was 1995. It's odd he'd address such a span of time later. He's usually quicker on things like that. "Hello" being a good example. Same with "Pearls B4 The Swine".

I wouldn't be surprised if what she says happened and what actually happened were two completly different things. and that's really not her fault sad

You're right about the timing of it but keep in mind "Now" was a track that had been sitting around before it's release. I actually heard it first while watching the Beautiful Experience. That was long before the release of thew Gold Experience. I can't recall the dates off the top of my head but I remember that seeing that show made the releases of Come & The Gold Experience sort of lackluster for me being that I'd heard a lot of the tracks prior.

The songs were done and on an album. Come was released in 1994 (it was due for 1993), and TGE was a year after that in both regards. Prince was playing all sorts of music around The Beautiful Experience concert (which was Feb 1994), because he was starting to refuse to play anything under the moniker of "Prince". Even if "Days of Wild" was written in 1993/1994, it's still 3 years after the incident in question.

Never liked Sinead singing NC2U. I don't like her voice. I much prefer The Family's version.

She sang it on UK tv about 4 months ago, quite a nice acoustic rendition.

I always just assumed that line was about the Sinead incident. Don't know if it's supposed to be, but it always seemed like it to me.

Oddly enough,Prince thanks Sinead in the credits to the 'D&P' CD,but I have a feeling that his 'thanks' is meant to be sarcastic,as if he's really saying...

I never understand why artists say that they will never perform certain songs ever again. They always end up reversing that decision, lol.Money can change anybody's mind.
