Dez Dickerson - "Parties Weren't Meant To Last"

I guess poor Dez is still working on that book (...that I spoke about HERE) that he was collecting "donations" for upfront and had purported to have finished by early 2009 (...I guess shit happens...). Now he's auctioning off his guitar on eBay!!! Hey yo Prince! Can u help a brother out?!?

Here's the latest correspondence just in today from Dez:
Fam!
It's been a while-I wanted to drop a quick note and catch everyone up on some things.

It's been a year of reunions. Back in the spring, Dr. Fink, Prince's sister Tyka, and myself did a show together in Houston. A week later, along with Bobby Z., The Family, Mazerati, and various members of The Time, Mint Condition, and others, we all participated in the Prince Family Reunion show back in the Minni-apple. It was incredible fun making music together again!

For those of you who are patrons of the new book, "Parties Weren't Meant to Last", thanks for your patience. It's been a painstakingly slow process writing this one, and it's taking me much longer than I had hoped to complete it. It's coming along, and I'm very excited about it-look for it to drop in the fall.

Finally, I'm doing something for the last time-I'm offering one of my signature guitars from back in the day at auction. It's the Les Paul Custom that I played on American Bandstand, and in the early shows. I actually gave this one away 7 years ago, and recently got it back-I've decided to make it available to a serious collector that wants to give it a good home. It's the only remaining guitar of mine from that era that I'm ever going to make available-the others stay in the family! You can check it out by clicking on this link- http://cgi.ebay.com/1972-...286.c0.m14

'Til next time...

A few years ago, Dez sold his custom Explorer guitar (the Little Red Corvette solo and all the 1999 videos one). It sold on eBay for about $1500.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Stupid and obvious I know but if I had just a little more $ I would consider buying it. A year or two ago before things got bad I was about to pay almost that much for a Custom 3 pickup Black Beauty.

Auction ended 2 days ago, with ZERO bids. neutral In my opinion, he started the bidding too high at $5,000! He could have started the bidding at thousands less, and ended with much more than 5k. $100 would have gotten the bidding war started, but $5,000 was asking too much for an opening bid (...unless it had belonged to someone more famous than Dez, and DEAD - like Hendrix or George Harrison).
