I think the shirts are awesomeness !! Prince's name is no where on the shirts and the "Fancy Lesbian" thing far transcends the comment about Prince. Only people in the "purple bubble" know about that !

It saddens me that this has become a snipfest. I hope this doesn't deter any other artists from visiting...

I can understand why comments were snipped. The personal attacks on W&L were unneeded. I know I got heated, but I'm no ass kisser. W&L have been 100x nicer in the past month or two alone than Prince has ever been to anyone. I wish he'd learn from people like that. W&L of course aren't the only ones who interact w/ their fans. I LOVE that technology like the internet, Twitter, Ustream, Facebook or whatever has gotten people closer - artist and fan alike.

Anxiety was right to snip at some point. It was a slapfest, and the point was that those fantastic T-shirts were on sale. I hope they sell even more now.

I talked to someone from W&L's camp, and they were appreciative of the people who defended W&L, and wondered why other folks were so hard core with NOT having a sense of humor. The only response I knew to give was basically that there's THOSE type of folks in every group. Ya gotta move up and move on.

Thankfully other artists won't necessarily see the BS that went down here. They also will understand that there will ALWAYS be naysayers, ass kissers, etc in a forum or group. But there are also those who understand the reality of a situation and can see the bigger picture.

As a huge fan of both, I hate to see threads devolve into W&L vs. Prince. But, I guess that is to be expected around here.

Seriously, for those "offended" by the "Fancy Lesbian" t-shirt/joke, go back to the linked interview from a about a month or six weeks ago when W&L first brought up "Fancy Lesbian."

It was in response to their initial reactions to meeting Prince and whether they ever thought he was gay (which they never did). I guess "Fancy Lesbian" is a joke at Prince's expense, but the tone from the interview is not at all sinister or negative. They're lesbians, pairing their knowledge of lesbians with their initial image of Prince to come up with a completley tongue-in-cheek description of him. It was very funny within the context of the interview.

It hasn't become a joke at his expense, it's become kind of an inside tip that a person is an informed W&L fan, a fan who loves W&L not only for their time in the Revolution, but for their amazing work since they left, a fan who would actually read and/or view every linked W&L interview enthusiastically. As others have posted, "Fancy Lesbian" is totally beyond Prince and is really just lingo that W&L fans have bonded over in their love of W&L. Whenever I see or hear the term, I don't even think of Prince or making fun of Prince, I just think of how funny, interesting and engaging W&L are. That's all. I think for most people who keep on talking about it, it has nothing to do with putting down Prince.
