It's TOTALLY the weakest album. No one would have given a shit about it had it not been for "Jungle Love" and "the Bird". Two skits, and two other filler tracks, means only 1/3 of the album was good.

True, but that's one side of vinyl, the previous 2 albums are pretty much 2 sides of great tracks each. Pandemonium is great too. ICC has the hits, but not much else.

Was Prince trying to play down The Time at the moment he knew they all would have the biggest exposure? I dunno, but it seems like a Prince-ly thing to do.

I imagine he could see the writing on the wall with the Time and that it would no longer be a going concern by the time the movie/album came out. He probably just threw something together around the 2 hits featured in the movie to hold onto the better tracks (Chocolate & Jerk Out) for himself (or someone else) at a later time.

Yeah, much like the Apollonia 6 LP.

The lyrics to ICC kinda go with other stuff from the time (no pun) like The Dance Electric, all the 'it's the apocalypse soon, so let's party' stuff. That's why I could see it being kept for himself, it's got more Prince-ly ethereal themes to the lyrics than the average Time track.

"Cool", and "The Walk" and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too" are the trademark songs. Those two you mentioned are the only ones the public remember.

I put Ice Cream Castles ahead of Pandemonium. ICC has four great songs; Pandemonium only three, imo. But both pale in comparison to the first two Time albums.

I agree.The first two Time albums are CLASSICS...truly essential.The other two albums have a few good songs,but nothing spectacular.
