Who is the most $uccessful associated artist?

I would guess Wendy & Lisa because of their International following and because they are still working as session musicians and doing scores for movies.

Does the dollar sign mean just success in terms of money? Because from several comments Wendy and Lisa have made in interviews, I don't think they're rolling in money.

If you're just talking about bringing in money, I think you've gotta go with either Carmen or Sheila. If you're talking sales, respect from peers, longevity in career, fame, all that kind of stuff combined, then I'd say Sheila.

Yeah, I was wondering financially. Sheila is so humble these days it's hard to tell what she's really worth (which is a good thing). As far as Carmen Electra goes....where to begin with that mess lol. It's hard to even say if she's an associated "Artist".

Chaka Khan and Sheena Easton are the most successful associated artists. Both have sold tens of millions of albums.

i guess recognisability (not sure if thats a real word lol ) Carmen Electra would rank quite highly especially with younger people but not for her music but for modeling and appearing in parody films

Jam & Lewis, I didn't even think of that. Jimmy Jam is like the Chairman of the Grammy's (or something) so that IS a big accomplishment.

Wendy and Lisa are very financially sucessful with scoring and because of scoring, they were able to get their own nice bigger studio in Hollywood. Even Sheila E, I heard, was the one who persuade them getting into scoring because it is more money into doing that. They are very high demand that it is hard for them to do it all the request they are getting. Some other composers I heard hired ghostwriters due to getting a lot of work come their way, but not the girls they do all of their scoring on their own W&L are some hardworking ladies.

Also St. Paul worth millions due to his session work and write songs for others.

Mark Fink also is very successful and he does scoring work for companies.

Yes, they might have sold millions between them but it's NOT due to Prince's help

Why not ? ... she had a contract and release at Paisley Park which makes her officially an Associated Artist.
There were more artists on that label with only one or a few releases who made a career-change as well.

Carmen Electra made her "Fame" on her looks. Not by being a musical artist. She merely used Prince as a stepping stone and it's questionable whether she should be considered an associated "artist".

Very pathetic and also ignorant of calling someone, who at least know what they talk about a dreamer.

St. Paul had made his name yet is very underrated as a songwriter and producer and he has his own successful production company . I am not a huge fan of his, but he must have done something right if some of the biggest like Anita Baker, Paul Abdul, The Beach Boys, Patti Labelle, Michael Bolton, The Corr (who he helped them when they sold 10 million album), Trisha Yearwood, Lionel Richie, and more had wanted him to produce or write their music. St. Paul may not be out there in the general public as Wendy and Lisa, Sheila E, but his accomplishment as a producer and songwriter can't be deny.
All I know is that St. Paul won't starve anytime soon, thats for sure.

A few years ago (2005) Sheena Easton was listed in a British financial magazine as being one of the richest female entertainers from the UK. She invested a lot of her money and got into real estate early on in her career. She was said to be worth 80 million.

Carmen has actually done better than many of his other female proteges. She managed to maintain her career after she left the Prince camp. The same cannot be said for some of the others.

What is so funny? I think her company is a talent agency and her last year interview she said she represent actors, musicians, and art directors. here is more information : http://www.agendamag.com/...lonia.html Having your own talent agency can be very lucrative and I was thinking about start my own after I graduate from school but my passion is more of having advertising agency. So Appollonia is not doing bad and besides Purple Rain, I think she is doing better financially doing behind scenes than her short-live years as a singer and actress.

The question is a tad misleading because not only are you associating success with money (absent recognition and popularity) but you are associating the success with Prince. Are we talking success as a result of just being associated with Prince or success on one's own merit with the Prince association as a minor impact. If the latter is in question then hands down it would be Jam/Lewis as they have had massive success producing other artists and seemed destined to do so. Carmen Electra might be a runner up since many of her fans either have forgotten or never knew she was a Prince protege - plus she had that whole Playboy Bunny thing which was bound to happen anyway.

If we're talking success just by having had an association with Prince - well I give that top slot to Wendy and Lisa cuz had it not been for P these chicks would just be working as studio magicians for random artists IMHO. The only associated artists I can think of who are successful (recording music, getting industry accolades and getting that $$$) pre and post Prince would be Chaka, George and Sheila in that order. cool biggrin
