SHELIA E ON CMT'S "GONE COUNTRY"

Did anyone catch it over the weekend? It was pretty good. She looks great, and when the time came for each of the celebs to perform, she tore up The Glamorous Life. It was odd seeing those country fans singing along word for word.

It was good. I wish they would have shown more of the Glamorous Life performance; it looked great. I'm glad Sheila was getting some respect on the show all around.

I was pleasantly surprised that the show was better than I thought it would be.

I DVR'd it and am watching it as I type.

It's actually cute so far.

Of course, Sheila ROCKED!!! smile

But I think the "surprise" element was a bit fake.
I mean not only did the band know Glamorous Life, they knew how to do the little instrumental riffs when Sheila takes her solos at the end, which you'd have to have seen her live to even know.

But most of these realities shows are somewhat staged.....

My friend ws on Patti labelle's Xms special on Tv ONE and she told me that it wasnt' even Patti's real house! smile

Sheila betta win this thang! smile

PS I just saw George Clinton and Sheila was playing some guitar on that funk! smile

Yeah, it was nice to see Sheila playing guitar. That was fun.

As for the band, I thought that was the surprise, that the band had rehearsed the song to be able to play it the way she does it. She's been doing the song the same way pretty much since 1984 (that is, when she's doing a faithful rendition of it and not completely changing it), so I was thinking all the band would have to do is learn from any of her performance footage out there and then just follow her cues.

it's possible.... smile but these shows are usually anything but "real". Even Trading Spaces...where they say they have 48 hours....they have like 3 or 4 days...one day is just to clear the rooms out!!

I actually like the fact that both Sheila E. and George Clinton are on the program, and I think the Big-n-rich guy needs to do a respect check next time. If he only realized that without GC, he couldn't be where he was. Anyway, back to liking that they're on the program - it's more than coincidence that this has happened, cuz in a cosmic way, them being on the show, in a country music context, there's no telling what kind of music synthesis could happen - is the moon in the 7th house?
