But I absolutely LOVE men." Wendy says the five things she can't live without are " Money, guitars, boots, close friends, and Prince." She and Prince were smitten from 1983. Wendy says once she was around him the crush ended in 1986, even though he dated her twin. Prince says the kiss on the cheek he gave Wendy, in Purple Rain was his idea, and that "It was my way of making her feel special. I lover her, she's cute, enthusiastic, and one of my practically BFF's. There's a chemistry between us and she makes me look good." Melvoin partially agreed. She and musical producer Lisa Cholodenko, were an item, adopted a child together, but Wendy broke it off in 2002 saying "I need a man in my life." I'm ticked off that someone fabricated quotes. There's this thing called journalistic integrity; it's compromised when you make up things that someone never said and try to pawn it off as truth. If someone really said something - find a citation, or include a link to a reputable news source.

Yes, yes, I know - Wikipedia isn't a 'news source'. It's open source collaborative content. I get it. And: slander is slander. And lies are lies. I personally don't care if it's coming from a credentialed journalist, or someone posting online. Many of us (especially the founders of Prince.org and other fan resources) have done a lot of work to ensure that what we post is true, verifiable, and worth reporting. When others don't? The whole lesbian thing was definately a role i played to be able to be in his group,it was either gonna be me or Jennifer Batten and i was just not ready to lose my place in line by being uptight". Wendy's long time partner Derek Verline met Wendy in high school and they were married in 2003. Wendy says "the whole lesbian thing worked for a while and surely helped Prince to sell a few more records but the truth of the matter is that Lisa and i are just good friends who enjoy making music together,that's all."
