Yep. Heard it. Have MOST of it. It's cool. Nothing special really. "Saga of a Man" was the lead cut and that was pretty cool. Everything else was just kinda - there. And they just faded out with the era, basically.

I have the album and I like it. I have a bunch of unreleased tracks and a few B-Side mixes too, including a funky instrumental cut called "Champagne Saturday".

'Don't Leave Me Baby" was originally a B-Side to one of the singles from the first album, so it's worth it for that alone. Some of the other cuts on this album were dope as well though, i like "Words" and "One Girl".

Pretty sure Bernadette Cooper from Klymaxx produced this album. Aside from "Don't Leave Me Baby", obviously.

yes He was pissed about the look in the first place. The look of Mazarati was prince's idea. neither the group members nor Mark liked that from the beginning. In 87, nobody was dressing like that.

and MuthaFunka nailed the description of the 2nd album perfectly.

And THAT'S being kind, I feel. Me, I think the album was whack. But I was through when I found out that Mark was no longer involved in the production and all of the o.g.'s were gone. MZ could have and should have had a much bigger career. They were slated to open for P on a major tour in 86 with Parade, but after the weak sells from UTCM, P backed out from wanting to do the tour. After Mark quit P's band, then he really lost his pull there at Paisley to keep control of Mazarati. MZ were also to be in P's film, The Dawn, alongside Lenny and Tony LeMans but that didn't happen either.

I knew BG would come with the extra info for us. Good stuff, bro. I especially had no idea that they were supposed to be in The Dawn.

Not true re production - Mark did just over half of the Mazarati 2 album. About 4 of the original members were on it (definitely 3 were).

Which of the og members were on this album? Romeo? Tony Christian?

I bought the 45 Saga Of A Man and when I saw Bernadette's name on it, I was done. My thought process was what in the fuck was this female version of Morris doing handeling a project like Mazarati? Where in the fuck is Mark? The tracks I heard, I didn't like. MZ's debut, to me, was one of the best things to come off of that label. MZ's debut album SMOKED the Parade album. And their follow up SHOULD have been killin' as well. The tracks I heard...I just didn't dig. Even if Mark wrote some of it or not. Now I know P had his hand on the debut, writting and playing and was probably over Mark's shoulder here and there ("Player's Ball" is one of the baddest cuts from the 80's) giving advice on the production. I LOVE damn near everything on the debut, (except "Suzy") and I wanted that on their follow up.

That's correct.BrownMark was bitter about this too.A year or so later,he was quoted as saying "Prince made them dress like that....he made them wear those clothes. But when the project failed,I got blamed for it".

I'm all for artists and bands having their own unique,"visual" look and style (and hey,it was the 80s afterall) but let's face it...Mazarati looked like drag queens. That kinda look wasn't acceptable for funk bands. It was okay for the glam rock bands like Poison and Cinderella, but R&B/funk fans weren't having that, lol.

To top it off, it was a DATED look. Prince had already done that and ATWIAD and the MN look was beginning to be played out. Even Prince was rocking slicked back hair and was in suits. He had them looking like early 80s ex-metal band members.

I used to have this album on vinyl, sold it for a pretty penny... smile

I'm pretty sure that Romeo, Craig Powell and Kevin Patricks were on it (as well as Casey), from recollecting the back album sleeve.

The album isn't a patch on the first one, which for me is an out and out classic.

The second album really doesn't hold a candle to the first LP, which is probably one of my all time favourite albums of anyone, ever. There's a couple of decent tracks, but it really doesn't hold up well.

Bernadette Cooper only produced a couple of tracks (The Woman Thang, Saga Of A Man). I would've loved to hear what Bernadette and Prince could've done, I love Klymaxx and Bernadette's productions and solo work. cool

I think Bernadette was a great producer.I loved her production work on the Madame X album....very edgy and funky! It seems like she never reached her full potential or got the attention that she deserved.
