Tamara & The Seen

Anyone remember this Jesse Johnson protege group? I'm pretty sure they weren't a real band but rather just a vehicle for Jesse to get a chick to sing some of his songs to get that audience.

They had 1 hit tune but I can't remember the title.
the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

listen to The Replacements - its good for the soul

I only had a copied cassette of the 1st album. I later foudn most of it via "online sources". It suckes cuz I woudl buy the CD if they sold it.

Blueberry gossip was ok... but isn't that the one that Jesse wont' stop screaming "Get a little satisfaction, Good God!" on every track?

I love the album! I found in the dollar bin at the Wreka Stow and I cannot stop playing it (along with Emerald City by Teena Marie). The whole first side is the shit with Affection and Summertime Love being my favorites.

I would agree that it was a vehicle for Jesse's production ventures. But Jesse can't manufacture talent--Margie Cox could SANG! That album is slammin for days.

The MC Flash tracks have been in wide circulation for years, you can find them on any of the larger out-take collections.

The first Ta Mara & The Seen LP is great - a lot of good stuff on there, not just the singles, Blueberry Gossip - not so much.

Dunno why 'You Turn Me Up' (b-side to Affection) wasn't on the first LP, but it's certainly one of the best tracks they did cool
