Coinciding with the worldwide release on Minneapolis' Lolly Pop's self-titled
debut CD, the "Upper Room with Joe Kelley and Gi Dussault" and WVOF have
announced that Nov. 13th is LOLLY POP Monday. You will hear trax
from the critically-acclaimed record that has garnered immediate radio airplay
and club spins. In addition, listeners will hear exclusive interviews with
Lolly Pop, Monte Moir (The Time, Janet Jackson), Morris Hayes (Prince
and the NPG keyboardist) and Dr. Fink (Prince and the Revolution).
Lolly Pop and Moir will discuss their collaboration on the new CD and upcoming
plans for the Glamorous '06 tour which opened this week in the Twin
Cities. Hayes will talk about his affiliation with Lolly Pop when she used to
work for his music production company. Mr. Hayes also chats about the 3121 shows
and his music experiences. Dr. Fink will touch on his production work on Lolly
Pop's album and his own Star Vu studios.
Pop's self-titled debut (Lolly Pop) tells the Cinderella-esque tale of the globe
trotting club kid and former TELEPHONE! front girl. Produced by Monte Moir (The
Time, Janet Jackson, Vanity 6), Dr. Fink (Prince & The Revolution) and UK hit
maker Ricardo Autobahn (Spray, Heaven 17, Daz Sampson), this adventurous Italo-Pop
album promises to thrill Club go-ers, DJ's, Drag Queens, '80's fanatics as well
as the Myspace generation.
"It's a concept album with a twist- a story line and a cast of characters. It's
also a tribute to my musical heroes: Adam Ant, Ru Paul, Missing Persons, Bowie,
Madonna and all the artists responsible for spreading the Minneapolis Sound:
Lipps Inc., Prince, Vanity 6, The Time, Sheila E., Information Society et all!",
Pop beamed excitedly.
Accompanying Pop's album will be the GLAMOROUS '06 tour. Directed by Monte Moir
in the tradition of the aforementioned Minneapolis acts, this non-stop,
high-energy club revue will feature Pop's all-male live act The Couture Club.
Moir- who also produced Disco/R&B great Thelma Houston- will be appearing live
with Lolly Pop & The Couture Club on select U.S. dates. Upcoming shows include:
Nov. 15th RIVERWEST COMMONS - MILWAUKEE
Nov. 16th PHANTASY - CLEVELAND
