I asked (and looked) but am not sure EXACTLY where/how it's being released... I'm sure Amazon or Itunes will have something on the date. There are a few tracks up on Myspace and as I understand it, they'll be premiering songs there. There's also a cute pic of them working on tracks in Matt's (Fink) studio in her photos on there. Hey everyone!
I am friends with Lolly Pop - and her album drops next Monday, November 6. I have listened to an advance copy and if you like dance music/80s music, this is a must! She is selling the CD on her website, Itunes, and on tour: http://www.electrolollypo...iAlbum.htm She is indeed touring with Monte Moir. A short leg of the "Glamorous '06" tour is planned for mid-November. The dates are shown here: http://www.myspace.com/lollypop Also, for those unfamiliar with Lolly, here is an excellent recap: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolly_Pop ** The Prince connection...Ms. Pop resides in Minneapolis, was discovered by Dr. Fink and Monte Moir. She is frequently a Paisley Park guest and was in NPG's "Get Wild" video.** - Matt

Here is an early review:
http://johnnym77.livejour...56677.html Artist: Lolly Pop Album: Lolly Pop Rating: 8 out of 10 (Full disclosure: Lolly Pop is a friend of mine, I'm a former back-up dancer for her stage show, and she has worked with Dr. Farrago's Burlesque Theatre on numerous occasions) "Dance and sing/Get up and do your thing" --Madonna, "Everybody" Steeped in 80s nostalgia and a knowingly camp sense of theatricality, the long-awaited album by Minneapolis-based electropop artist Lolly Pop has finally arrived. Sounding like the British cousin of Gwen Stefani, if she had been raised by Aqua, Lolly Pop leads a cast of players in a whirlwind tour of sugary synth-pops and neon flashes. The album is staged like a mini-musical, with opening and closing tracks framing the album as a story told by Lolly Pop's chauffeur and transitional pieces featuring a diverse cast of characters. The songs contained within, while ostensibly concerned with dancing and fashion, are truly more of a tribute to the 1980s music that influenced Lolly Pop than anything else. Every track on the album, despite their thoroughly modern productions, sounds like it would be comfortable on a mid-80s Eurodance album. Much of the album, as well, owes much to Madonna's debut album of 1983, both singers making solid albums to establish vivid characters. Lolly Pop the singer is an interesting persona, to be sure. At times girly and bubbly, at times introspective and serious, Lolly shifts from a playful sing-speak style to a confident contralto. She's perfectly matched with the colorful productions of Ricardo Autobahn, drenching Lolly in sweet synths and infectious beats. Even when the songs may seem ready to collapse under their own campiness, Autobahn's rich, thick arrangements keep the tracks buoyant and fresh. Several tracks on the album stand out, including the kinetic "Elevator Operator" and Lolly's moody cover of Duran Duran's "The Chauffeur." Unlike many dance artists, each track on the album is different enough to stand out, while still staying within an established palate. Then there is the dramatic closer, "Happy Ending", with its orchestral strings and serious tone, which still fits well within the album's context as a musical about Lolly Pop's life. That Lolly gives her most assured vocal on this track, textured with hints of David Bowie, is no surprise. For all of its strengths, Lolly Pop will not appeal to all listeners. The campy attitude throughout the album may turn some listeners off. A device used in the album of Lolly Pop conversing with her Fairy Godfather (think a higher-register version of Harvey Fierstein) often pops up at inappropriate times, such as at the end of the otherwise fantastic "Glamorous Life." The album is also extremely short, although this may not be a fault. In an era of over-extended albums stuffed with filler, Lolly has made sure her album is a lean, efficient dose of sweet hooks and endearing attitude. The album is a fine addition to a dance music library, and undoubtedly Miss Pop will benefit from extended remixes to spread her appeal to club-goers. A fun, flashy, energetic album that can survive through multiple listens, Lolly puts herself ahead of a pack of otherwise anonymous dance divas. 8 out of 10. --JKM
