Damn it down to wendy and dez for me and it is hard to choose but i go with wendy because I am much more familar with her work post-prince.

Wendy is kickin' ass in the poles because there are so many Wendy and Lisa fans on here not because there are so many good judges of guitar playing.

Wendy is good, but I never heard her nail Prince's lines live like Levi did. He's a cleaner player, too.

Does anyone know the name of his new guitarist?

It kinda boils down to how you define "best":

• Best technical prowess?
  
  
• Best in terms of feel/emotion/locking in a funky groove?
  
  
• Best soloer? Rhythm player?
  
  
• Best "fit" with Prince's style/sound/vibe?
  
  
• Most versatile (plays funk, jazz, rock equally well?)
  
  
• etc.

There's probably no ONE best at all of the above.

Maybe a better question (the one people are probably voting for anyway) is who is your FAVORITE?

The fact is that Wendy has cultivated a career in which she's worked for many of the best. Just in the last decade, she's been in demand as a guitarist for artists as diverse as MeShell Ndegeocello, Neil Finn, Sheryl Crow, Seal, Erykah Badu and Eric Clapton, as well as a huge contingient of equally talented but lesser known artists.

In other words, I may not be able to judge great guitar work, but I think Eric Clapton might be able to figure it out . . .

Perhaps it's just that I don't know Levi and Dez as well, but I'm not aware of their work being in that much demand. (Not that that's the only metric, but it's not a bad metric!)

Anyhow... As a funk guitarist, I could really dig the way Mico's style was so in the pocket, and he could nail Prince's parts.

Yeah... U can throw Dez and Levi in there (Wendy most definately not), but Mico on guitar and Levi on Bass was the BOMB.

I don't like 2 compare or rate, but when U ask me, I gotta flex.
