I would assume that Michael is talking about the double disk greatest hits disk coming out.

No way he meant that. Remember the reports about Sonny T. and Michael B. recording with Prince recently? Michael B. (I think it was him) it was the best stuff Prince ha done. Not from me and paraphrased, so take it for what it's worth.

it wasn't me, man.. it was a young woman named cora. her husband was playing bass.
and we, meaning sonny and i, have not received any formal request or inquiry about joining prince for anything, other than an occasional recording session.. and that hasn't happened since last october.. i only presume that one of the songs we recorded will be on the album, 'cause i think we played on the title track, "3121".. but, even that is not a guarantee that it will appear.. the majority of the material we recorded when we were employed by prince has yet to see the light of day.

Do u think Prince will ever release ANY of the material that you and Sonny T recorded with him or for that matter, any of the material he's recorded that's in that "vault" of his?

Just a little wish here: I would love to hear u, Sonny T and Jesse Johnson in a trio setting, ala Band of Gypsys. That would be cool as hell cool

I remember when Sonny & Michael recorded that loop CD back in the day. I haven't been able to find it but I listened to it in the music store and it was funky as hell. I was like "These two should just do a whole CD together." I'd buy it.

Some people, including me, thought you'd be on 'Fury'! The song is a great rocker in the vein of 'Endorphin Machine'.

sonny and i made a record similar to what you're describing with a guitar player named jef lee johnson.. it has that band of gypsies vibe, but it's a little more expansive, musically.. not just funky blues music. we even cover some duke ellington on it.

the band is News From The Jungle- the record is available on universal france jazz.

after we did those sample cds, we heard ourselves all over mcdonald's commercials and whatnot.. it mostly made us upset, because ad executives were walking in their boss's office with our funky grooves, and bringing down fat cat ad accounts, and making mpore money with our sound than we would ever have the opportunity to.

have you heard the "sons of almighty"cd? not to come off like i'm working retail, but if you're interested in hearing a record we really put alot of work into and really represents us well, you can order "the great tribulation" on my website: www.michaelbland.org-
there's a merchandise page with a picture of the record and a link to a store that sells and ships it, the electric fetus.

thanks for the kind words!! take care-

yeah... margie is he undisputed champ, in my book.. did you hear her on the "dear santa" post office record that was issued during christmas? i actually produced the vocal session.. which really means i ordered the chinese food, and let her do her thing.. LOL
she sings on "simple gifts".. it's basically "everyday people", but tommy barbarella played keys, and brian gallagher played sax. a friend named john fields, who was also in greazy meal, produced the track, though..
pretty funky..

i feel your pain, on the early get-up.. but
next time you stop through, take 5 seconds to say "what's up", man..

i think that prince is really enjoying playing with different people from his past bands, and some newer people, as well.. it doesn't seem likely that he will approach me and sonny to return on a more regular basis. but, we don't disallow the possibility. stranger things HAVE happened..

i don't think any of the other cats really have the kind of time or interest i do in actually sitting down and logging on, and finding random people to chat with.. i guess it's something i miss, sometimes.. i used to spend alot of time with the fans. sonny and i even went to a couple of fans houses, back in the day... y'know, stuff like that. we had fun. so, every once in a while, until somebody starts asking me about prince's shoe size, i hang around here.. LOL
