This gets asked about every six months or so on here.

Last heard, she was still living in Croydon, running a ticket agency, and very much happy to be away from all things "Prince".

Haven't spoken to her now for a few years though so someone may be able to update.

have you guys heard from Linda Everett? She also worked on the Controvery fanzine...until she had a bitter falling-out with Prince in the early 90s.She later sold all of her Prince stuff.

Oh, I remember how Eileen used to get "the vapors" over everything Prince. giggle

Surely she's still a fan even though she's not making Controversy any more? confuse

I remember getting the same vapors during the first convention because Mrs. Murton hadn't bathed the whole week. lol

shocked

Well, surely she has realized by now that if she were to have any serious chance of scoring Prince, she'd have to lose a bit of weight and shower daily. biggrin

Nope

She was very bitter over what the little fella did to her - can't say I blame her.

Hardly. Controversy ran for a good few years. It was a great fanzine Prince submitted loads of great pics for it.

I loved Controversy magazine. I also loved Prince Family magazine (but that is another story!). I was sorry to see Eileen Murton go. I find it sad when someone like her who had a great product goes away.

I remember another magazine called PURPLE UNDERGROUND published by some jackass named Nathan White or something like that. Now that is someone that I am not sorry to see disappear from the Prince scene. He ripped off so many of us (I only got one issue of his magazine and it was LAME!). I wonder what scam he is up to now? lol.

Come back Eileen!!!

OMG I remember this woman. If it is the one I am thinking about she lived in Washington state or something? A friend told me that she went crazy on him shouting into the phone about being the queen of Paisley Park or something like that. Hahahaha. I always thought she had something to do with that Nathan White guy who was ripping people off. I guess when they realized there wasn't much money in Princely things, they moved on to the next mark. Just kidding! lol

Eileen was never a sycophant, in fact she was the one person who would be extremely blunt to him and tell him to his face when he was acting like an idiot.

If Prince had more people like Eileen around him rather than the fawning clowns he has now then things would be a lot better for the real fans.

Linda Everett was cool. When I ordered my first few issues of the Controversy fanzine in 1988,I bought them directly from her.I think she was the US distributor. She also had alot of other cool Prince "items" for sale,if you know what I mean...lol...I actually spoke with her on the phone in the early 90s,and apparently, she had a very bad experience with Prince. In 1990,around the time of 'Graffiti Bridge',she was hired by Paisley Park as a "consultant".But things didn't work out and she was fired or she quit. She told me that "Prince is a very nasty person" and quickly began selling all of her Prince stuff.I shoulda asked for more details but I didn't want to appear nosy lol

Why, yes. And he's so small and tiny, he would've been terrified! Especially of her writing about it in that magazine of hers. lol

So that's probably why he bought it out and closed it. neutral

yes linda and i corresponded for a long time during her stint at pp and with the grafitti bridge stuff. told me the same thing and a lot more. she's also the one who introduced me to ingrid chavez. we lost contact when her father became gravely ill and she left the prince to take care of him.

i wish her well. never had business with murton .
