A question for the ladies who shared their Prince related stories....

There will always be certain perception of Prince and his treatment of women.

If Prince was not as "controlling", do you think he himself would be treated "justly"
by women ?

I merely am saying that is it possible for Prince to feel he would be in an uncompromising position were it not for his commanding "role" as "boss" ? ...in business and social relationships.

Because of his small stature, being black, quiet demeanor ...

KaleidoscopicEyes! OMG how are you? Haven't seen your posts in a while..
wave

Interesting question. I've always got the impression that Prince as much as he loves beautiful women he kinda resents their power and their ablilty to use their sexuality to get what they want. Hmmmmm....maybe that jelousey resulted in his harnessing of the more feminnie sexual expressions? biggrin

nod
I think you have hit the nail on the head k666 (kind of a cool handle)
I thought the same thing when I heard something in the water.
And it almost seems like he picks the sexiest women and then resent the fact that he finds them irrestible, and so when he has regain his composure... he gets one over them in return. Actually, I have dated a couple men like that myself. what is up with you men??? huh?? j/king lol eek neutral

gracious! my opinion is not popular here oh well shrug

i do understand that a lot of people think prince struggled when he was young and therefore deserves his wealth but so what? lots of people struggle all their lives. whoa. think of it

here again i offer another controversial opinion: just because someone can create catchy tunes doesn't make them deserving of massive wealth. eek

imo wealth should be awarded to those who really contribute to society. people like teachers, etc. not basketball players, not rock musicians and not movie stars.

again, just my 2c.

anyway go ahead bassdame. carry on with tales of prince's eccentric 'bootay' extravaganzas. ima split this thread now.

I agree with you, X. Our priorities as a society are screwed. And there are plenty of other rich people who were once poor who distributed their wealth more humanely.

If I were rich, I'd set myself up in a simple living situation so that I don't have to worry about MAKING money. Then I'd live as an artist/musician. Then I'd take the rest and find a way to help others.

Actually, I own a house in DC that has quintupled in value and am renting that out to support myself as an artist. If I hadn't married my hubby, I'd be living somewhere cheaper now and be the artist that I am. So I have achieved half that goal.

When my father dies (not that i'm looking forward to that) I will inherit a lot of wealth in the Philippines. (My mom's family was old rich). I plan to sell that property and buy some land to help people with housing, medical care, education, etc. The disparity between the rich and poor there is very embarassing, especially since I am part of the elite.
[Edited 9/10/05 15:15pm]

artpal, your desire to help those less fortunate than you is outstanding...please also, if you so desire, check into organizations that are helping with the child prostitution and sex slave issue there: I don't know why, but in the last couple of years there's been a dramatic rise in the child female sex trade in the Phillipines... on one side, I have friends who are involved with these sorts of human rights issues working from Europe and the US, and its so heartbreaking to see sad ...and the sickos that go for this kind of business...they come from all around the world from a variety of social backrounds... also, on the other side, because I am in the fashion industry, I have literally heard "cocktail conversations" after a day's shooting where you have one person or other on the team (who after a few too many drinks) who admits that planning to make a hop over to the Phillipines (or Cuba, or Brazil, or Thailand, or Malaysia), to go see some underage child that they have sex with for a few bucks and a pair of Nikes or bottle of expensive perfume...it's maddening sigh, but even if we can't stop the trade itself, at least every dollar donated to "escape" organizations might help some young person flee from that existence, get counseling and try to start life anew somewhere else...

Christ on a bike, I am sooo sorry for that digression, but you just caught me there with ann issue that's very close to me... neutral

.... prince would peek around corners and look people or just suddenly appear on the stairs. i kinda think there might be cameras and can observe from various rooms whats going on in other rooms...

I remember watching him do this from inside "The Womb" at Glam Slam in Miami Beach...just standing there spying on people below in the general club area...I didn't think much of it at the time, but in retrospect, the whole "two way mirror" thing was kinda funny to me...I mean, he would just stand there in the secret VIP room watching to see if people downstairs would dance to remixes of his songs, and send down notes to the djs on what to play next to pump the crowd up if things got too lackluster...damn, those were fun days cool ...

Oh cool! One reason I like to perform my songs live even in the smallest cafe is so that I can gauge people's reaction to the songs. There's nothing like it. I don't find what he did here strange - it makes sense - to test market the creations he's trying to sell.

You seem to have a lot of insider experience. How'd you get to be in "The Womb" with Prince? smile

I would totally agree with the test market concept if the artist in question were actually planning to sell the stuff he was presenting, but from my point of view, what people heard on the dancefloor were tunes of the "vault-ish" variety, meaning that they would never be released or heard from outside of "Prince-land". Although I only had the chance to see this a few times, when he would be standing there SPYING on folks, along with band members, with them all occasionally smirking together about unsuspecting fans down below, I wasn't getting an artistic gauge so much as I was getting a hybrid between the Prince character of THE JOKER in the music video "Batman" and Richard Pryor as the title character in the film version of "THE WIZ", lol!

As for how I got into the womb boxed ....oops...sometimes talk too damned much, lol!

I worked with a model from LA in the 90's once that he did NOT get one over. Musically speaking, she didn't even know who he was, and being that she was pulling in $400,000 a year, really didn't care because she was not interested in his money or stature in the music industry (as she was far too concentrated on her own)...their relationship was short lived because she found him irratic, possessive without reason, accusatory, and in her own words emotionally "toxic" and, she bailed out on him cause he freaked her out....funny how in a normal circumstance if a woman dates person with certain attributes we label them dysfunctional, co-dependent, etc.; but good grief, if they're a ROCK STAR, then we do our best to qualify it say "it's all good!", lol

I didn't think the story was that bad but, I did feel a little guilty reading it. The "squealing" part in particular shocked me, I dodn't understand why Robin would tell such personal information about her man. I was the singer for Robin Power & The Uptown Dames. You can see my picture in the photos Artpal posted. I know the stories are all true. Maybe if a have a spare couple hours, I can add my little story to the mix.

Just wanted to acknowledge Liza & Joni as totally legit."
