Hi folks, this is a continuation of the Robin Power threads that for some reason froze when the viewership reached a certain level. The original threads are:

To summarize, back in March, someone inquired about Robin Power and her band the Uptown Dames. I heard about the thread and since I happened to be the musical director for the Uptown Dames, I joined the org and started posting stories about my experiences. Somewhere in the process, an orger connected me with a long lost bandmate (Bassdame) who then started posting stories about her experiences with the Dames and other projects in Paisley Park and Flyte Tyme.

So there you go - let's roll again!

So Bassdame, the last time we left off, your plane landed in Minneapolis and you started working for Jam and Lewis' project "Mercedes." Then you guys met the guys from "New Edition" and then met some other celebs and went through some wild stories.

here's something about a flytetyme alumni...he was kind of seeing the guitar in mercedes, but he was also looking sideways at me. one day he tells me that he just doesn't understand why he wanted me so badly..after all says he..you're cute but you're not the most beautiful woman i've seen. could it be that i just wasn't falling all over him and we know some men (most) like a challenge. anyway we were all at the embassy suites in this guys room, he lived in mpls., but he would get rooms.. wonder why? oh did i mention he was married. anyway he calls me into the back room and tells me that if i would sleep with him he would give me the keys to his mercedes right now on the spot. i told him i wouldn't even consider it unless he was talking about the keys and the title!!!!here's a hint do you know who i'm talking about..did duets with cherelle. also who knows who sueann carwell's brother is? good luck! krystal i'm resending the thing you were having problems with, it should be okay..love ya artpal

That's funny about "not the most beautiful woman i've seen." I've heard that one too, although other men would say I am beautiful. I'm sure you've heard that one too. Isn't the definition of beauty elusive?

Even on the threads about Prince's girlfriends (who's hottest?) people don't seem to agree on who's the most beautiful. I think Vanity was the hottest but people seem to like Mayte. I don't like the way Mayte looks for some reason - might be the fakey looking eyebrows up there in the sky.

When I was finding beautiful women to interview for my beauty documentary, I had a tough time trying to determine who to interview because the definition of beauty was so elusive. So I gave up on the definition and interviewed anyone who was LABELED BY OTHERS as beautiful. I could also tell by their stories that people considered them beautiful even though I didn't necessarily think they were. It's just all so funny.

As for you not being the most beautiufl woman in the world...well.....I think that can be said about most beautiful women! We all know though that physicality is not enough to keep most men turned on. Keeping a man aroused in his brain as well as in his pants is what REALLY makes them . Most women aren't born supermodels but women are alot harder on themselves to live up to this beauty standard.

I have noticed what men think is beautiful can be completly different than what women think is sexy. Take for instance fashion. Alot of girls think little 'boy shorts' are sexy as hell. But when I wear them at work alot of men ask me to take them off and just dance in my cheesy-eighties-thong! Even I've noticed the celebrities that women fawn over don't necessairly impress men. Like the girls will say how hot Paris Hilton is but I've noticed alot of men prefer someone chessier with bigger boobs and bigger hair like Carmen Electra or Christie Brinkley. Hee hee,

For the record I think both artpal and bassdame are beautiful but we all know beauty has little to do with sexiness!

May I ask another question? How controling is Prince with his girlfriends really? Did he pick out Robin's clothes, tell her how to do her hair, tell her what lipstick to put on?

Hey bassdame and artpal I have another question. Did you guys ever meet a woman named Leisl Auvante? She was in the Gangster Glam video and also in Graffiti Bridge. I heard she hung out with Prince for a few years. Right around the time you guys knew him. She is very pretty and looks American Indian to me. Just wondering what she was like and how'd she get to be in Prince videos?

one more thing..sometimes p. would call the apt. and tell robin he wanted see her - always late at night. she get up and within the hour a limo would be downstairs waiting for her..sometimes he was in there!
