MiNNEAPOLiS Update- DR. FiNK, MONTE MOiR (THE TiME), LOLLY POP, TOMMY BARBARELLA, CHUCK ZWiCKY, TC ELLiS & more! Boys-n-girlz, the music world here is on fire again!!! PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION keyboardist DR. FINK has been working on a top secret Electro project with Belgian producer KRIS VANDERHEYDEN + former Kidney Thieves vocalist Free Dominguez... FINK was most recently heard hitting vocals along side former NPG rapper TC ELLIS on Minneapolis-based Electro act TELEPHONE!'s cheeky rendition of the Bowie-Lennon hit 'Fame'... Meanwhile, TELEPHONE! front girl LOLLY POP appears "under the gun"... POP has been working round the clock to complete her solo debut for Fall 2005. On the production roster so far: Dory (DJ Apollo) & DR. FINK! Word on the street has it that THE TIME keyboardist (as well as song writer/producer to Janet Jackson, Denice Williams & numerous Billboard faves) MONTE MOIR has put in a bid to release POP's debut on his LAGOON RECORDS label. POP is reportedly thrilled, but hasn't issued a formal statement... This information seems accurate-- however-- as POP was seen along side MOIR @ his CD re-release party (for 'THIS SIDE OF PARADISE') here in mid January. At the moment, MOIR is on the road, playing select dates with THE TIME, song writing as well as working on his second solo LP! Former NEW POWER GENERATION players TOMMY BARBARELLA (Keys) & BRIAN GALLAGHER (Sax) continue thrilling crowds with their Soul-meets-Neo-Funk outfit GREAZY MEAL... GREAZY has just put out their third studio album ('Universes Baby') with BLUE MAN GROUP drummer/percussionist Dave Anania & the help of guitarist/producer John "Strawberry" Fields (MANDY MOORE, HAR MAR SUPERSTAR). The record is now available online thorugh GREAZY's web site (see associated links below!). In other PRINCE related news, former PAISLEY PARK engineer ('BATMAN' + assorted albums!) & producer CHUCK ZWICKY recently relocated to New York, where he has set up shop in down town Manhatten. ZWICKY has been hard @ work on various studio projects as well as causing a stir across the ever-entertaining Art world of the Big Apple... Rumor has it that he's preparing a collection for an upcoming photography exhibit here in the "Mini-Apple" during late Spring 2005! That's about it! Until next time, here's a small list of related sites/links for y'all to dig: www.doctorfink.com www.montemoir.com www.telephonetheband.com www.greazymeal.com www.zmix.net ENJOY! Why? Am back again for a min... avelvetsweat- I found out the answer to your question- TC started 2 programs to get kids off the street and back in school- one here in MPLS & one in Vegas. Both are called The High School For Recording Arts... Here's the website: http://www.hsra.org/ The answer: POP & Co. wanted to help promote him/the work he's doing in the community! thesexofit- still no answer to your Q, but stay tuned! Dr Fink and Monte Moir were also both judges tonite in Mpls(Bloomington actually) at a contest to choose the next frontman for INXS--which coincides with a making of a reality show for Mark Brunett productions called "Who wants to be a rockstar"(or something like that)--which will be a reality show in the Fall on CBS (or at least that's what they told us).
The whole gig was promoted by local station 104.1, an 80's station which in my opinion is simply a front for the reality show because I can't imagine INXS actually choosing someone from a singing contest in MPLS and other sports bars around the country, but it was fun to compete, nonetheless. Went to the contest- Fink & Moir were working it! Some interesting contestants... They're holding the second round today at First Avenue... Think they will have winners on the WCCO news tonight or tommorow evening!
Hope all is well- Scarelette Nasty girls, dance, dance, DANCE!

I almost forgot! Thamax: First Avenue was closed for a couple of weeks, but it opened again last month. It's back under original management... which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Things definitely seem to be looking up, though. First Avenue is basically the last of the Mohicans- the last of the great original/independent music venues in the Twin Cities. Last year, The Hard Rock Cafe (yeacchhhh!) moved right across the street from it & set up shop... There's like a million new sleek ass highly *prententious* nightclubs in the area too (that aren't half as cool)... Nothing like the 'Ave, though! I think given it's history & all that, it will hopefully pull through. Maybe I should make a seperate post about this with web links & stuff! Also, re: Lolly Pop, check the mentioned links in the original post.
Have a Lovesexy week y'all... ScarletteP [Edited 2/7/05 12:36pm] Nasty girls, dance, dance, DANCE!
