by default the thread views are like this:
Threads sorted by time of last post.

With an option to:
Change to sorted by time of first post

Clicking on:
Change to sorted by time of first post
...does what it's supposed to do and reveals:

Threads sorted by time of first post.
...with an option to:
Change to sorted by time of last post

Clicking back on:
Change to sorted by time of last post
...results in the same display (it's still sorted by time of first post)

I scratched my head for a while, then realised:
there was a typo in the link named:
Change to sorted by time of last post
...that causes it to:
stay as it is

Fixing this typo and manually putting the link in the address bar of the browser sorted it properly again, so it seems to be a typo in the link.

so how do you fix the typo? I tried changing what was in the address bar of my browser but it didn't work. could you spell it out step by step for me?

All I did was put the 'Change to sorted by time of last post' link in the address bar, and delete the " that was on the end of it.

Seems to be cool now.
