Half-figured it out. I noticed there have been a few posts referencing this (including my own). On some pages, their browser freezes on all_1.js. Recently, I've been hanging on translate.googleapi

Well I was thinking it's something with the website, but it turns out it's a problem with GOOGLE. When we search for old posts on the forum, it uses the site:prince.org api widget thing. This was still occuring when searching directly from Google too!

I used DuckDuckGo to search Prince.org and sure enough, EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. That's because DuckDuckGo is linking us directly to the page we are asking to be served, while Google is linking a huge mess:

It looks like this runs some Proprietary APIs against the page, such as translate, highlight, etc. This is what is hanging our browsers.

Hopefully that can point you in the right direction in fixing the problem. I don't know if it's financially sensible to ditch the Google site search, but it's a big pain in the ass when trying to look up old posts.
