Fonkyman

I agree with Titty. What a beautiful sentence that is too.

This place is one of the most namby pamby boards I've ever looked at. Mods chop away at anything and everything in case somebody somewhere might be offended. A good joke, or a nudge you might be giving someone can be taken the wrong way and snipped out, losing all context and sometimes the whole point.

It's either that or someone starts name calling and out come the snip-snips before it's even got anywhere. I hate the snip-snips. They should be used as a last resort, saved until things get out of hand. Let people poke each other a bit. How are we gonna laugh at someones big ears if we're not allowed to call em big ears?

It is a sign o the times. The worlds gone up it's arse for the sake of being P.C. It's a load of old bollocks. Some of the best threads I've read at other places were strangers disagreeing, pissing and moaning at each other, insulting each other etc. Then working it out and making some brilliant points along the way. Either they obviously don't get on, which can be funny too, or they get on but not without the odd dig. That gets funny too.

Obviously you'll always get a few nutters that seem hell bent on winding people up but they don't usually last too long. Give em enough rope and they usually hang themselves anyway.

It surprises me P doesn't like the net. It's right up his street really. Something happens, everyone sees it. Times change, P wants to erase the past so he hits delete all over the place. He'd be in his element.

For all we know, he's had a site set up for years. Just that every time he posts something he changes his mind the next day and deletes it.

Of course, all this is meaningless as it really does all boil down to NDru. Nowhere near enough frank and beans and really, that should be a ban. talk to the hand

swfish

joypad
I can't even tell what they are unless I look 'em up on the emoticon chart.

And this emoticon here,

snowflake
It's a white snowflake. But none of y'all can see it. Why? Because it's up against a white background! WTF?!
No wonder this site has gone to hell.

You all turned my thread again to a mess!

Anyway, I know many people don't visit the org anymore. It seems time has stopped there and then. The threads are so boring and lame. All the animated gifs to every damn post make me nuts. I see no point in arguing with people that are 20 years younger than me on things that are new to them, but I have experienced 20 years ago.

I am gonna take a break for a long while. Prince is ova.

That's an interesting, and probably more commonly shared than not, opinion that likely explains some of what may have happened here over time.

Yes, but those people are not gone, they just don't wanna join anymore. I only read posts on threads by specific people anyway. The other ones seem to just go and on about how great everything is and argue with people that make comparisons to his past. People that have been around for so long, and experienced Prince's best times. I am really not gonna argue with somebody that's 15+ years younger than me on Prince, even if he/she is the biggest Prince fan. There is simply no point.

Now, I realise this makes me sound like an old bag, but I am probably not alone here. LOL

this site has had it's ups and downs, i have a love/hate relationship with the org. but as many times as i've tried to leave it and stay away, i always end up coming back. even after years of being away from it. i really honestly care about many of the people i've known through here. i do wish the owner of the site would over-see it more, and update it too. but it's okay, and i understand that it's a free site. smile

ANDROGYNINE

i believe there is still some very interesting things going on here. There is good and bad, as well as the in between.

this digital garden sometimes reminds me of the gardner who is away for the moment and the weeds, bugs, bunnies, and what nots have come in and have had their way with it, the garden. But soon enough the gardner will return and till the land and once again make it full of delicous fruits and vegatations.

for the time being we have to pick from the nuts and berrys that continue to strive, because the gardener is on the return and soon, very soon the garden will be beautiful again.

Until then,

ANDROGYNINE Continues...

Prince music & more is more active than ever before, even when Prince is not really active at all. Just look at the numbers of viewers whenever a bit of Prince related news is posted. It didn't use to be like that.

It's more that GD has dried up. That forum is even more boring than before. Everybody is getting old... wink

Other forums like the music: non prince one are still very active. P&R has actually mellowed, but some PR afraid folks are still avoiding and bashing it, even when it has actually improved, since before people were always complaining it was so harsh...

The org has been here for about 15 years already and has changed along with the times. It may need some graphical overhaul, but many people from way back then are still here. So it really hasn't changed that much.

I was a little skeptical of that statement, so I took a few minutes to quickly scan through the pm&m forums this morning and roughly count how many pages of threads there are per year going back to 2004. I believe there are 100 threads/page, so you could multiply the page counts by that to roughly work out how many threads there are per year. Of course, a thread count isn't a perfect measure (it's possible that there may be more posts in fewer threads in a given year) but it should give at least a reasonable estimate of site activity. If you wanted to be really precise, I guess you'd have to count the posts per thread, and whatever OCD I have tops out before that.

2012 - 27 pages

2011 - 43

2010 - 53

2009 - 78 (year of lotusflower)

2008 - 68

2007 - 91

2006 - 86

2005 - 79

2004 - 143 (musicology)

^No, I mean for example the current thread about the new rehearsel, it has almost 27.000 views. And that's just for a snippet of a rehearsel. When it's a new song views hit the 40.000.

My point is that it didn't use to be that many in earlier days

With all those things going on at the moment, there would be usually thousands of orgers online back in the days. I see nobody online anymore. Is it officially over now?

I mean are people lurking and not posting, cause I see mostly born in the 80s posting (no offence).

For now, it's potentially over only for Prince: Music & More.

But Music: Non-Prince AND P&R are still interesting.

I've been an orger for 8 years (???) now. And in fairness to you, there were a lot more orgers within the first 5 years of my org membership. Some ex-orgers have move on to Facebook. And there were other ex-orgers that were banned and stay gone (as in not returning under new stage names).

I have only been on the org for 4 & a half years but it doesn't seem to different.

I'm 22 and there are younger orgers than me that post like Smoothcriminal etc. So it's not only people from the 80's in here lol

The org has it's off days & it's on days... there are still trolls and still people who bring MJ or Janet into every thread lol

But overall it doesn't seem much different versus when i signed up in 2009.

But then again i hear supposedly i missed the org in it's golden years lol
