Moderator tone and censorship

Earlier today I posted a picture of a bass guitar shaped like a phallus with the headline. "lucky he didn't use this at the Superbowl" A reference to the fact that Fox news tried to whip up thier fundy demographic into beliveing that Prince's guitar was shaped like a phallus. The picture I posted was distasteful but humorous and in context and certainly within the realm of the forum titled "Prince music and MORE" Quite a few people seemed to see the funny side but apparently some were not amused. No one commented as such but I received the following curt and patronising org not from a moderator.

[Snip orgnotes contents no no no! - luv4u]

I'd like to appologise to anyone that was offended by the image but think this response was a little emotive and betrays the personal views of the moderator. The idea that the Prince forum is for Serious music fans seems a little bit idealistic when one considers what really goes on this site.

I know the moderators mostly do a great job and I thank them for it but perhaps sometimes their personal views prevent them from adequately doing the job properly. confused

You should report him. At least the other two moderators on PM&M have manners.

Thanks. I can't see the point in making a bigger issue out of it. I've made my feelings clear, even in this unfrequented forum so thanks for reading it. smile

I would make something bigger of it because of the fact that that forum is full of nonsense and many of the topics have nothing to do with music. I don't care if I like the mods or not, but at the very least, they should be fair across the board.

Yeah, I see your point.

I'll think about it. I'm not sure it's a battle worth getting into although I am pissed off about it.

For all I know, I am the one in the wrong and just can't see it.

The mods do yank down things they consider nonsense but te tone of te response to you and the fact that mod does not yank down threads that do not discuss music just sucks.

Yeah, you're right. I've taken it further. I'm not after anything but a subtle reminder to the person involved to consider his/her tone and not bring his/her personal views into the role.

Cheers Stymie.

1.) This thread was locked because rule #4 & 5 were crossed -private orgnotes are not to be made public.

2.) there are 5 Moderators in the PM&M forum not 3

3.) Challenging the moderators decision, (which more than 1 mod came to the same conclusion) should have been resolved in private, not put out this way for people to speculate who and why

4.) you said ur post pic was distasteful... would that equal offensive vulgar or obscene? rule # 1

finish your concerns with the moderator in private

Thank you

If you cannot reach resolution with the Moderator in private, contact the site administrator via e-mail (ben@prince.org), explaining the entire situation, with all relevant links/excerpts/emails, etc. Under no circumstance attempt to start a 'debate' about specific moderation decisions in a public forum.
