Get rid of the fucking MJ sticky

Seriously. At this point it's become useless. There's no new news. No one uses it anymore. Topics outside of the sticky are more popular than the sticky itself. It's been 3 years now, put it to rest.

In the particular thread did you send the message to the Moderators of that forum? That's where it should go 1st, not creating a thread here.

The MJ sticky is much needed. Look at how long it tends to get. Helps prevent that forum from getting flooded with MJ. And posters love putting up their pics and stuff and talking ad nausem anyways.

Mods have had to deal with locking MJ in the Prince forum.

And if that was to be discontinued and the forum gets flooded, what then? Revert back to sticky thread?

I'm open to ideas to consider.

get rid of the sticky and ban all mention of MJ completely from the site. put something in place to askerisk the name, all song and album titles, and any other aliases

perhaps a reminder it's a prince site may be good too

No, the sticky is not much-needed. It gets long because every single thread even MENTIONING MJ in the same breath as ANYTHING ELSE is closed and people are redirected. Must I really bring up the issue about the Prince & MJ documentary thread being locked in the Prince forum and referred to the sticky?

It's lazy moderatorship. Improve your moderating standards and the posting community will change accordingly.

Make an MJ picture thread.

Let us talk about music regularly.

There. lol

I don't know about that. Way to many offset personalities out there. Way too many people who like to challange the rules, skirt around the rules or pick a fight for the sake of it. I've experienced it quickly that people want to do what they want to do, doesn't matter if you're trying to keep a topic on topic or keep it from swaying into another fight. If I could only post the things and 1/2 of them nasty people side org note me.

Well, the org has fallen a great height, so there'll be an adjustment period. It has been a playground for quite a while now. All of a sudden with rules being upheld, people are sure to get bent out of shape. Oh well. You're a mod, it's not your job to cater to every single personality. Use your best judgment, apply the rules, and move on. If every other mod did this sort of thing instead of express their grudges with their power, the Org would be a place that could hold the divergent personalities.

glad there is a sticky

there was a theory a while ago that tons of MJ fans flooded the org just to try and prove MJ was better than Prince

then they wouldn't leave

now they are still here

but at least now they know who is the real King of Pop

so in the sticky they will stay hopefully

Prince isn't the King of Pop. lol

He is MUCH different than that. That title doesn't even apply to him.

But carry on.

When was the sticky created? I can imagine that there must have been a lot of MJ-related posts shortly after his death, when the news outside the org was all about him. Now that it's been a few years since he died, I'm not sure that eliminating the sticky would result in a flurry of MJ-related threads. People might get into arguments relating to MJ, but there are so many long-running nasty arguments on other subjects that I don't see why MJ should be in a special category.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

The problem is what we're seeing in the Serious Effects thread. A music thread is now flooded with pictures. Not that I'm saying anything against anyone doing it, but it makes the mods think they have no reason to stop using the sticky.

Pictures are not that big of a deal imo. Some people post pictures, some people have nothing to contribute to the thread but complain about images flooding, but people who like to discuss the music WILL discuss the music. The same happens in certain Prince threads as well, there's no need to pay attention to the pictures if you don't like them, since the thread wasn't really devoted to images initially.

Forum already is flooded with MJ threads because the mods can't be bothered to lock them.

At the time of writing, there are 3 topics of him on page 1 (one being Jermaine aswell LOL), there shouldn't be any. 1 would be ok, but 3? We either need more mods or for you guys just to lock them up quicker.

What if the mods created a separate forum for MJ-related discussion? Then there could be multiple MJ-related threads that wouldn't have to be locked or redirected to a sticky. That is, assuming that threads do start to proliferate if the sticky is locked.

Dude, forget it. Not gonna happen. Nor should it. Those douchebags should leave the org and find a fucking MJ forum to spam their crap in. Takes the soul right out of the artist and their music, puts all the focus on their retarded insistance on polluting the site with myriad threads. They don't respect the nature of the site and, thus, don't respect those of us who would prefer the sticky go away and that everyone keeps their shit in check.

It's morons like that that cause the sticky to stay around. They not only piss the mods off, but they piss off MJ fans who aren't as oblivious and numb-skulled as them. shrug

You REALLY think 2 threads = flood???

REALLY???

There's two James Brown threads and two Madonna threads too.

The forum is obviously flooded with James Brown, Madonna and MJ threads. Let's all slit our wrists, this is agony.

I maintain that the sticky could be left up and retitled something along the lines of "MJ - Pictures & Non Music Related Shit".

Then the people who like actually discussing his music and career can do it properly, in properly crafted threads about specific subjects, like normal people. lol
