In the beginning... (tenth anniversary thread)

Just got back from a rather nostalgic trip that made me recall the "dark ages." lol Sometimes I wish things were still like they were back then...simpler, less cluttered.

There are only a few months left in 2009, and I thought it would be cool to do a Tenth Anniversary Org Tribute thread. If you were around in those "Purple-and-Black" days (a layout/color scheme that I think we should bring back for at least a brief stint headbang), please share your memories of this place back then. I was around at that time, too, but I honestly can't remember much. So...jog my memory, will you, OGs?

Who is/was Kevin L. Smith, by the way???

I pity da foo' who don't read my blog!

Kev was an orger? What about Gary Coleman?

When I was 16, I fully expected to be able to build my own KITT car.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think Kevin was an Orger. So was the guy that did "The Prince Show" on Saturday Night Live. And the guy that wrote or directed "Love Jones".

Can't remember any of their names, though.

Thanks for posting, squirrelgrease...have you seen the new sig I adopted a few days ago? thumbs up!

Call me crazy, but DAMN I love that old layout/color scheme! love Let's use it again (if it's not too difficult to do, that is...wouldn't want Ben to have to rewrite the whole programming code just for a brief switch)!

Here is some memories:

The org back then was practially uncensored. No moderators, hardly any rules.

Sometimes, right or wrong, the attacks on Prince were relentless and there were times that negativity among members themselves also ruled.

In other words it was a place where most fams nowadays would immediately run from to their mommies to cry their hearts out how bad they and Prince are treated.

Look at this site now. It's moderated, there are rules of conduct but the bitching from fams against this site and certain negative members is only getting worse. It's like they hate the org, just because there are still some negative folks hanging around and spreading their opinion ("hatred" is what they would call it).

Just wanted to say to all those fams: you have no clue what true negativity on prince.org looks like.

Memories of the Old Org...

***Kellyanne McClure---who remembers this evil, vindictive witch who used to post here in 2000-2002? Nearly everyone on the site got into a heated argument with her...lol...the threads turned into nasty flame wars.

***the various Prince imposters---anybody remember "purple_pie","holdon2urwigz","The_Rainbow_Child" and the other imposters who used to post here? Writing alot of cryptic, mysterious nonsense? LOL.

***the fake tracklists---remember an album called 'A Doll's House'? lol

***weird folks who posted silly messages---One guy used to constantly post stuff like "I like pizza"....or "I have a wallet" nuts

***Orgers who used to post back then, but no longer come here---I'm talking about folks like SuperNova,Bro915,King Sausage,DMSR,EllisDee,klhk, and others.I miss these people! confused

***the "Quaidbowl Scandal"---longtime Orgers know what I'm talking about.

i think if anything defines old school org, it would be alf's "." thread. it was a thread you couldn't click on, and could only get into by using your brain.

it was also when i started getting noticed on the org, because i broke into the thread by using my brain in a way that they weren't happy about.
