Locked/Missing Threads

My message thread is gone once again.....I understand towards the end of it two people were going back and forth ...but the two of them ended it and moved on ..agreeing that it was not the place for the argument. Then I was told by the mod that locked it, that it actually turned bad by the 10th post.....not sure what the 10th post was exactly but Im pretty sure the only thing was Imago leaving imaginary message for an imaginary person....he even org noted me at the time that it was a joke and that it wasn't even for an orger ..or anyone for that matter....
When I told the mod this ...he never bothered to answer.....
I would also like to know why the vent thread was locked...no one even bothered to tell me this one.....and if its because it has potential to go bad then so do numerous other ones ..including the rats arse thread, the orger question thread and all of P & R

Once again.....I'm asking for an opinion on this ...why weren't the posts snipped if it was such a problem and if ur not sure about a post ..whether it is a joke or aggression ..why isn't that person org noted and asked ...rather than a mod taking it upon themselves to decide what is real, what isn't, what is a joke etc

Honestly I know its not an easy job to be a mod and be fair in all situation...but the censorship around here lately seems to be getting out of hand.
Oh and I would have posted this on my last thread I started about this ..but um that has been locked too neutral

I gotta admit, I was floored when I saw those two threads had vanished as well...I couldn't think of what occurred that warranted it to be locked or deleted. Like Ocean pointed out, usually the posts themselves get edited and/or posters get warned...and the Vent thread, I was posting actual air conditioning vents on it lol lol...since I'm pretty sure those pics were not "NSFW" type photos, that thread being deleted was really a head-scratcher for me.

What concerns me is we may have another round of mods saying no messages threads INCASE they go bad....
When like I have said ...any thread can go bad ....I have seen people use sigs to have a go at someone lol
And hell life isn't all fluffy ducks ...sometimes we get cranky ...or vent about that traffic jam, the rude shop clerk ...and yes even other orgers ...
Thats why we have mods ...to snip..and warn ..

I think it might help, also, if we members try and hold each other more accountable, too nod...kind of like saying "Don't get this thread shut down by bringing your bullshit into it, please, thank you" lol. Could even be in the thread title..."Message 4 An Orger (No Flaming!)" or something like that there. We may be a little less likely to do something like that if we feel we have to answer to each other and not just the mods.

there is the option to report post to mods- but as the mods arent always around in time, things get out of hand, then threads get locked/banned (how i see it- feel free to correct me if im wrong-it wouldnt be the first time lol )

can offending posts be totally removed-not snipped- and orgers given a warning in the first instance- and a temp ban in the next. if this feature isnt available, maybe it might be an option Ben can look at 4 any future org upgrades.

the small minority r spoiling it 4 the larger majority, and it shoulnt be that way

i know..like [put reason snip-by mod here], but this still leaves the offenders name. cant the whole post-name included be removed-not just snipped

We can delete entire posts, but in trying to be transparent, we try not to. So in this case it would be clear why the post was snipped and negate the whole snipping of the post.

It was my understanding that this was discussed and an agreement was made that sometimes these threads would need to be shut down.

Did that discussion not take place?

Huh, why not snip the whole post if it's a problem...u lost me confuse
And I thought it was agreed that the majority shouldn't suffer because of the minority

Yeah, it can. When I was a mod I would do that to get rid of double posts.

If a thread gets out of hand before a mod can get in to clean it up, then it's going to be locked. Thems the breaks. It's a shame that people who insist on breaking site rules ruin it for others, but if you want to be annoyed about it, I'd be annoyed with them, rather than the mods who are just volunteering their time to help make the org a nice place to be.

As for deleting posts, I'm with Mars in that we'd NEVER want to do that, rather actually show a snip has taken place. We don't want to be seen as being sneaky by deleting posts that no one knows about.

I'm annoyed because the two people involved dropped it and agreed it wasn't the place for an argument and it was still deleted...
It seems strange to me that mods would rather delete a whole thread than a whole post and I would think if org members were asked the majority would ask that whole post goes before a whole thread shrug
I am also not neccessarity mad at the mods ...who like u said are volunteering ...but along with volunteering I would expect them to answer org notes in regards to actions they take ...and maybe if their not sure if something is posted in a agressive way (like the 10th post) they should org note the person and ask before deleting ...I mean we all have a different sense of humor, different cultures, different backgrounds.
Some of the censorship around here seems to be going in the extreme....

There was nothing on that thread that would have required it being locked, though I concede this is my opinion, and I tend to think as long as threats are levied or racial slurs are thrown around, and things of that nature, than it's fair game.
Of course moderators have last say, but aren't these ultimately subjective in nature? So ocean's line of questioning should be expected and natural. Clear violations are one thing--not liking the 'tone' or realizing jokes is another.

If anyone were to witness an exchange between lollypoprocks, 2the9s, and shausler circa 2005, ALL of those threads would have been locked. The politest thing they'd call each other was 'idiot', and this was actually very funny.

I just think the org is the org for a reason--it's always been edgier than other Prince sites. How many threads did you ever witness on housequake that talked about cake farting or how to properly eat ass?

I agree with ocean.

Also, though ocean's thread often get derailed cause they're so terrible to begin with and BEG to be jacked, the flaming and baiting is seldom every as transparent as one of Hinnenkle's P&R bait threads, which seem to thrive off rather terse exchanges between left and right. lol So yeah, subjective, and understandable that an orger (even oceans merit-less threads) would want answers. razz
