a question for the mods...

what is the difference between a thread that is locked and a thread that is removed....

how do u determine the difference between the two in your decision to do one or the other.

thank you.

when we lock a thread, that means you can no longer add posts to it, but it remains visible.

when we "remove" a thread, it is locked, PLUS it is removed from the forums.

as for when we do one vs. the other, i can only speak for myself but i would venture a guess that the other mods follow a similar protocol:

if the thread is harmless but unnecessary - a dupe thread (information that's already been posted) or a nonsense thread that isn't necessarily offensive but has no relevance to anything in the third dimension - then i lock it.

when i feel that harm can be done as a result of content posted in a thread - flaming that's gotten way too out of hand, outrageously offensive comments, personal threats, etc. - that's when i would opt to hide or "remove" a thread.

so that's my .02 on your question.

And this is a bit embarrassing, I've deleted the email with my password, can someone email me the master password so I can get my shifts for next week.

Thanks in advance.
