This month I've bought three of four albums (modern funk, blues and Gilmour's latest) but can't say that I've visited any of the fan sites to know if this malarky carries on outside of "megastardom". Personally I'd be quite flattered to know that someone is that taken with my persona and material to start a fansite. All seems a tad silly to me in the end. All this bickering between the Org and HQ (gotta ask why one loose collection of people would dislike another for merely logging on to a different web site) that I keep hearing about (yet not actually seeing) also seems rather daft.

I'm 37. I've liked Prince's music since way back. I prefer his earlier material but don't dislike his new stuff (apart from the RnB stuff which, as a genre, doesn't really grip me anyway). I feel I'm allowed to praise or dismiss any work by anybody by now. It doesn't matter if it's the new Walker's crisps flavour, Prince's new songs or Labour's stance on Britain's escalating knife crime. It's all of the same value (bar the knife crime which is important). We have forums like this so we can voice our opinions regardless of how shite, childish, funny or informative they are. Personally I still think that the picture threads should have their own place for the girls to play in but that's another thing altogether.

Well I've lost my train of thought now... what do I think of the "new" site? I've seen worse but was hoping (but not expecting) more. I'd rather have a new album in the shops than some gimmicky web site but maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

I feel a little sorry for the HQ guys who have lost their forum but I'm sure it'll be back up again soon. And if the Org goes? Well at least I'll get more done each day. Or I'll just start surfing porn sites again. But even that gets dull. Did I just say that? Damn I'm getting old.

I already miss Housequake. I don't mind though, its not the end of the world. I understand for Aaron it was a hard task to please both sides. I think we all have had experiences like that in real life, were he had to pleased both sides and it gets tiring. It doesn't mean I wont stop listening to his music, but I wont support him in any way. Every year it is like a disappointment, so its not worth it.

I think Aaron needs a vacation, a time to forget and rest about the whole Prince thing. He really needs it.

After thinking about it more, I think it was kind of a knee-jerk reaction to abruptly shut down like that. Folks have put in SO much work on the documentation side of it. I sure hope he turns all that over to someone else if he's truly done. I understand it's a matter of principle with Aaron, but a damn banner (which shouldn't have been put up anyway) or any pics at all, are not that important to most of the members.

Perhaps if a shift in perception occurs, and Aaron decides that he is doing this for the Prince fan community (and we do appreciate it, even when we bicker and disagree), and not for Prince, then maybe it will be easier for him to re-open the site.

Really... the only ones missing HQ are the members. Prince is a super star with a 30 year career. He will survive.
