I don´t understand Prince at all. What he´s going to achieve by all this?

Someone said it earlier, it's little man syndrome.

Pretty much since he logged onto the internet, he has wanted to completely quash what he sees as competition to his officially sanctioned websites.

Prince lives in abject fear that someone, somewhere, is expressing an honest opinion about his music.

A Suggestion!!!!

Why dont we all send this to ALL the news media outlets in the world, albeit local, national and international newspapers, news stations, radio and TV stations around the world and in our own localities and countries and globally and finally get 2 expose Prince for what he is!! A low life fucked up asshole!!!!!

So, for starters, theres:

CNN
Fox News
MSNBC
BBC
ITV
Sky News
ABC
CBS
NBC
And, in my case, all other news programmes in the UK
And, in the case of newspapers, theres USA Today and the International Herald Tribune!!
Then also theres all the entertainment news programmes!!
Then theres VH1, MTV and other music channels

Then lets send this 2 all our local and national newspapers, radio and TV Stations!!

Send this site and HQ and Princefams and the PFU site!!!!

Fuck Prince. He's lower than dog shit on the bottom of your shoe.

Don't you think you're taking this a little too personally? Calm down. Do you have anger issues?

Listen, I applaud the "fight-the-power" routine as much as anyone, but some of you could try a little civility and compassion.

You've no idea of Prince's reasoning behind this. None of us do. Maybe he knows something we don't.

There's two sides to the freedom shtick. You say you should be free to have images, videos, bootlegs, whatever, of Prince.

By that same token, he is free to
call you on it if he doesn't want you to have them, or whatever.

People didn't respect his wishes and rights from jump. Even when it was over small issues. But he has to respect yours?

Some of the negativity here is astounding. OK, so some of you are pissed. That's fair enough, you are entitled to be. But why kick up such a cuss-filled fuss about it? Why don't every single one of you with a PFU avatar just delete your account and leave? Or, just quit posting? Silence, is sometimes golden.

Intellectual discussion and debate is one thing. Throwing a hissy fit is another.

I support Prince, because I've enjoyed the music he creates for a long time now. He is an inspiration. I will continue to spend my money on his live shows, records and merchandise.

I don't have to agree with everything he does, but I'm certainly not going to lambast him for it. It's his life. He will do with it what he wants to do.

Well, In the same token I am also an adult who can do as I wish and unfortunantly the only one who can tell me not to post pics of my body art is me biggrin People are letting off steam because they are far from happy...u have to expect some kind of backlash and being adults (childish as some replys may seem to some people) we have the right to speak our minds. Im sure Prince dosent really care one way or the other what any of us say at the end of the day anyway because as u say it is his life and he will do what he wants to lol

Remember Mr Nelson, we are the ones that bought your music, came to your concerts, watched your films etc etc.

If it wasn't for your fans - you would be nothing.

I love your music but this obsessive fan hating has got to stop otherwise you are going to die a very lonley and poor old man - and we all know how much money means to you as much as your music.

Do not bite the hand that feeds you.

You're missing a point here.

Prince is demanding money from these sites for using his image and likeness. He is also demanding people not say bad things or give negative reviews.

No, I'm not missing a point, I know what he demanded.. this thread is embarrasing to read.

You're posts are a bit emberrasing, i agree.

I think I've had my fill of this idiot. To turn on the very people who made you is the lowest thing an artist can do, imo.
It doesn't matter how talented you are, if nobody buys your work then who gives a shit.
I've already considered throwing his albums out and I may still do so.

It's not like I've listened to him much this decade anyway. biggrin

Prince is the world's biggest jackass!!!

The man (by extension of his lawyers) has got to be the most possessive control freak I have ever seen.

He fancies himself as an artist, yet does not allow a free exchange of people's opinions on his work or items relating to him. The prick is simply out of touch with reality on so many levels.

He has become such a tool it is not even funny mad

Prince ought to take a step back and look at what Radiohead accomplished. Radiohead respects their fans, thats why they were rewarded 10-fold when they put their album out there for free and left it up to the consumer to donate money - on an honor system basically. Likewise, when Trent Reznor starts putting his stuff out there independently, it wouldn't suprise me at all if he gets the same response.

Prince should be concerned about what his loved ones think of him, not anonymous strangers.

Does Prince still have any loved ones? His parents are dead, he's not on best terms with the remaining family members, he's divorced both of his wifes, he doesn't have any kids. Who are his loved ones?

TANKAEFC said:[quote]Well, Lady..., I have a suggestion for you (it's worked for me, too) - I would suggest you go about creating original art of your own. It's nice to know that a certain song reflects a certain mood, but for me, that's secondary to being able to say it in my own words. It reminds me of the climax in the movie "Cable Guy" (with Jim Carrey) - when he lands on the satellite and interrupts the signal, right before the verdict in to be read, the next image is of a guy who is watching - he gets bummed, but then starts to pick up a book, and as he reads down the page, a smile comes across his face. Disturbing as I think his actions are, maybe this is Prince's subtle way of telling us "get out into the world and do it ourselves."

Interesting theory and potential message to his admirers and people.
I was fuming earlier on but I had to think about his recent actions.
I had to think about his music influences and most of them come from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Back in the 60's,70's and early 80's, the public did NOT give a care in the world about singers/performers/musicians/artists' personal lives because Medias were not as intrusive and cruel as they are now.
People were only focused on musical talent. Prince expressed his views clearly on the corporate music industry by leaving W.B and encouraging new artists to create their own labels. A very positive message which I hope will be heard.
I think his current actions are a way to denounce the way media expose or use performers image or work, think about it for a minute.... people are more and more out of focus and have lost their grip on what real music is.
People are more excited to know about artists' misery and downfall, this is WRONG.
I can't denounce his current decisions as he has not confirmed these publicly yet and I think it is important for him to do so to avoid any misunderstandings.
Freedom of speech is essential but these days medias are definitely using their venom and once again this is WRONG and it is also contagious on people.
I just don't believe for one second that he hates his fans, this is nonsense!, he spoiled us with his talent. It looks like he is testing our faith in him...
